Feedback on Superchip's Micro Tuner ???
 

Anyone bought one of these yet for their Lightning??? Feedback would be appreciated, not only performance enhancement-wise, but also operationally/installation, etc.

Just programs Superchips default programs. It doesn't allow you to change the program at all.

Got mine in the mail today, ordered Thursday. Instructions look clear cut and simple. Much better than cleaning contacts! Will probably install tonight but it is raining so don't think I'll be able to test it out. Basically it will either load a standard superchip program for my L computer code or I can customize the shift points, shift firmness, tire size, gear ratio, speed limiter and still get the standard superchip program for the engine. Will post results in a few days.

Loaded the program this AM before work. Very easy. Set the shift firmness for max but it was too firm. Had to decrease it twice, again easy to do. Couldn't do WOT because of traffic. Did seem to have improved the performance, especially with no boost. You can set shift points and shift firmness at a large number of increments. Worth the additional price from a std superchip not to have to clean the contacts and remove and replace the computer. With the microtuner you only have to remove the fuel pump fuse. You can remove the speed limiter, change speedo for gear changes or tire size and a few other things I can't remember. You can also just program for a std superchip program or return to strocK program. When I can get out and hear the "whine" I'll post the results.

hmm, it'd be nice if it could u/l a custom tune...

kinda like what a buddy of mine has for his bmw.

loads up custom tunes, lets you adjust things, but when u have to take it in to the dealer, u revert to stock. come home, u/l your custom tune again :)

maybe a certain superchip tuner should look into this... providing the hardware would allow..

There is no speed limiter on a Lightning, just FYI.

So does it give you the R9 program and adjust the shift points/firmness, tire sizes, etc?

Yes, you get the standard program or you can customize several items in the program such as shift points, shift firmness, calibrate for tire size or gear changes. It also saves the stock program so you can go back to stok at any time. Cost $335 to your door. Still haven't gone WOT but from what I have seen so far it really makes a difference. It seems like you get into the boost way quicker. Since I don't plan any changes in pullies that will need custom tuning I think it is a good investment.

I think I remember saying I wouldn't touch my engine too... but the I talked to Paul and I was he convinced me to... Oh well, if it blows, ill just get a gun and shoot myslef!
