Magnaflow Catback
Magnaflow Catback
Does anyone have any experience with the Magnaflow catback part # 15714. I understand that it uses the 12468 muffler. Is this true? Does anyone have any dyno #'s with this system. I am trying to decide betwen this and the silver bullet system.
I think it's been proven that none of the catback systems for the L give you little if any gains. Some even reduce hp/tq (Flowmaster setup).
Sound is the big reason for a new exhaust. I have the 14568 which is slightly larger than the 12468, thus quieter. I like it, but want something more. It's not a lot louder than stock. The silverbullit system uses two of the 14416's and an x-pipe. From what I understand, it's quite loud.
Hope this helps.

a friend of mine has the magnaflow on his 00 lightning. there were no seat of the pants gains. however, it sounds great!! the only complaint he has, is that when on the freeway, it is quite loud in the cab. my suggestion is to get it because it sounds so good but also sound-proof the cab.....chris
Which Magnaflow did he get? Mine isn't that loud at all. Cruising on the freeway at 75mph, i'm pulling about 2400rpm's or so and the cab noise isn't all that bad. The smaller 12468/14468 or the 14416's would probably have more cab drone.

I've got the magnaflow 15714 catback. It does use the shorter 12468 muffler. It is all stainless, one piece construction with 3.5" tips. Muffler and tips are mirror polished. Only one bend in the pipes, they take a 45 out of the muffler to the side. It's loud enough that I soundproofed the back of the cab a week after I had it. Has a little drone around 55-60 but quietens down the faster you go. No noticable gains or losses. Overall i like it.
