Old Couple and Lightning
Old Couple and Lightning
Just a funny story that made me chuckle:
Yesterday, at Wally-World buying Mobil1 oil; left my checkbook in the "L," so back out to the parking lot, only to find an old couple in a tacky van (Danger! Dr. Smith! Shopping cart too close to truck!!!!), loading several thousand bottles of spring water into the van's back gate.
I unlock the "L," and retreive the checkbook, and the old guy looks over and says, "Nice truck!" His wife follows with, "It's such a pretty color, too." I agree, when the old guy asks, "Does it get good mileage?"
I just about die laughing! I told him, no, it gets terrible mileage, but it's a hot rod truck with 380 hp, not meant for getting "good mileage." They just looked sorta puzzled, but we all had a good laugh. I'm no spring chicken myself, so I think maybe they thought I was just a bit loony.
Also had a guy at the tavern do a "double-take" in a semi-ratty mid-80s Mustang convert. I went to the window to check on the "L," (not a good neighborhood!), and see the guy in the Stang drive by, then continues to drive out of view, but stares at the Lightning as he goes by. Then he reappears, backing up, even with the truck, and gawks for about 30 seconds before cruising out of the parking lot. Not many Lightnings around here, I guess.
Just funny the various reactions you get with these trucks.
