question for any of you who have ye old body's roll pan
what did you do with the spare tire? mine is currently just in the bed because the guy who installed it for me didn't know what to do. i would like to have it back in its original spot...unless drilling a hole would make it look too ugly.
let me know what you guys did. thanks |
My spare is in-tact. I believe you are questioning about the hole to get the tire down. I haven't tried to get it down, but I figured it could be done by removing the license plate.
|
I'm betting you can see the spare tire hanging if you try to keep it where it belongs. I just threw mine in the back of the truck.
loose: You might want to try it before you're stuck on the side of the road pulling your rollpan off. But, that's just what I think.... |
So what you're saying Tampa, is that won't work, huh:mad:
Guess I'll figure something out. |
I haven't seen his rollpan, but that tire hangs pretty low. I just know you don't have the hole to crank down the tire.
You might be able to customize something. Maybe shorten the funnel looking thing and use a short crank so you could do it from the underside? |

Hey Rich,
It's crude and ugly, especially the welding since I don't have gas, but it works.... I cut a tire iron and welded a socket on the end. :D |
Does having gas make you a better welder? I guess I should have picked that occupation. I would have been the Master Welder...
Good job, man. I knew you could do it. Rich |
that's what i was thinking of doing too...but if the tire hangs too low i'm just going to go with in in the cab...i'll let you know what becomes of it
