Outrageous...Ford won't sell tools

My Lightning has developed a "Hydraulic Valve Lash" problem which sounds similar to 69 Roadster's.

So I went to the local dealer, ordered some new parts, then asked to buy Ford's Valve Spring Compressor and Spacer (had the part # from the service manual). They said no, they don't sell Ford tools.

This dealer is kinda wierd anyway, so I just left and called around to most of the Southern California Ford Dealers. NONE will sell these tools.

So I called Ford to complain. They acted like I am being unreasonable expecting to be able to buy a Ford tool. When I ask why I can buy the parts, but then can't DO anything with those same parts, she just tuned me out.

Outrageous. I hate dealers.

you dont have to use the special tool to take the rocker arms off with. Ours stays broken most of the time anyway. Just use a big screwdriver to pry the rockers out sideways.

Thanks Jeff, I'll give that Big Screwdriver a try if I fail to find the tools. (But how do I get the new ones back in, Screwdriver???) Or I will custom machine whatever I need.

ANYTHING BUT GO TO A DEALER.....

That just doesn't seem right... as a matter of fact, it isn't RIGHT! I woulda been on the phone complaining.

I tried to get some tools from Ford when I was rebuilding my L engine and they don't sell the tools. What you want to do is take the part # to Snap-On or MAC tools and they can get the tools cause they are the ones who sell them to the mechanics. Thats how I got the cam locks.

Go to Automotivetools.com, they carry all the specialty tools for transmissions (wher I get mine) they prolly have them.

Failing that, shoot me the tool numbers and I can get Rotunda tools, they're VERY expensive, but top quality.

Roadste69 came through for me with the location of the Speing compressor tool at

http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/product2003.html

Thanks a great deal 69.

I think I'll try Rotunda for the Spacer.

Man what a pain.
