K&n Panel Filter

I just put in the K&n panel filter last night. I didn't notice anymore boost as some have mentioned just a little more blower whine is back ( I can hear it over exhaust again) . I will say the filter is a tight fit with the gasket you need to install to the top of air box. I needed to lubricate the top edge of filter to get a proper seal on air box.
I also noticed one drip of oil on the TB none in air tube where flow sensor is (2000 miles on truck)

Hi Slick

To get the extra boost you need to cut the bottom out of the airbox or drill a bunch of holes in it. Thats where you'll get the exta airflow that will add a touch of boost.

The problem is not air getting through the filter, it's air getting into the airbox.

Just try this and you wont have to tear up your air box. Works great.

Dboat ... the K&N is thinner than the stock one ...
You need the gasket to seal off the upper portion of the
intake box ... It's tight ... just work it in ...

thanks

Thanks for the replies. I don't know if I will mod the air box. I would hat to destroy a orginal part for minimal gain and as for the tie rap set up I don't like it at all (NO FLAME ) I think it must allow some unfiltered air in the engine. I also just bought the k&n panel until I have enough money for the whole package I want to do to the truck cold air, boost bypass, chip, line mod-pan, #4 lower and long tubes and cats. but right now I am saving for my rims should have enough in a month or so 20x8.5 or 22x10 KMC stealths

Thanks again
Slick
