Question Safe Set-up??

I am currently running a 2# lower pulley and was wanting to get an upper pulley as well. Is anyone running this setup and if so is it pretty safe to do? Is the power gain noticeable or not?

Thanks for input.

A smaller upper pulley will give you an extra 1-1.5 lbs of boost. I prefer(currently ) to use a larger lower pulley(3, 4, 5, 6 lbs). Witrh the smaller diameter upper, you may induce some belt-slippage although many are satisfied with theirs.

YUP,

You can tell a difference. You can have a 2# upper pulley and a 2# lower pulley with the same belt with no slippage!! Least that has been my experience.

Any mods can turn out to be unsafe...

I like the larger lower pulleys as well. Many use the upper though....

I found the lower pulley a lot easier to install.Unlike the nightmares Ive heard about the upper pulleys.

The 2.80" upper pulley is good for about 9-11 rwhp on the dyno. I am running a 4lb lower and the upper. No problems to date.

Im also running a 4lb. lower and metco upper. To me the upper is a waste of money. Ive had no problems with it, but whats the use if you can buy larger lowers cheaper. Plus when you pop the hood, thats the first thing that catches everyones eye, with its four hex head bolts holding it on there. It can be a PITA to install and remove as well.(You have to have a special tool to even do that!) Its much easier to remove just the lower pulley if you have to make a trip to the dealership.

Yeah, the lower's a piece of cake to install, even for slow ol' me, and you can get one of the interchangeable kits, so a 2 to 4 to 6 swap can be done at any point, very easily. I got a 2# lower, and am already thinking I should've done 4... I got an interchangeable though, so a 4# pulley by itself is cheap, and goes on quickly.

Jay,

Did you have to install colder plugs for your 2psi lower pulley? What about for a 4psi pulley...or what have you heard/read?

My original plugs got me into the 12s with a 3 lb pulley. When I upgraded to a 5 lb, I installed colder plugs.

Thanks, Dan. I'm debating on a 2 or 4psi pulley.
