Disabling the automatic door lock?

Is there a way to disable the automatic door lock. You know how evertime you start your truck and put it in gear it locks the doors, well when you get out the passenger side stays locked and that pisses me off when i want to get something out and its locked!! Is there a way to get rid of this?

Yes it can be done. Check the owner's manual. If I remember correctly, it's in there.

It is in the owners manual. I did that VERY first thing the day I brought it home from the dealer. Gawd do I hate that, I hate being locked in.

Auto door lock disabling

Could you share what is required to disable the autodoor locks? I bought 2000 used and it didn't come with one. I'm too cheap to buy one. Thanks!

the seat belt donger will also get to you .i know you need to wear it but not riding around the farm.that was the next best thing i got rid of.

Sure. From the manual:

Make sure ignition is off and doors are closed. Turn ingition key to ON. Press power door unlock control three times. Turn ignition key from ON to OFF. Press power door unlock control three times. turn ignition key back to ON The horn will chirp. Press the unlock control, then press the lock control. Horn will chirp once if autolock was activated, twice (one short, one long) if autolock was activated. Turn ignition key to OFF. Horn will chirp once to confirm procedure complete.

All above steps must be completed within 30 seconds, or the procedure will fail. If the procedure fails, you must wait 30 seconds before attempting again.

Oh, yeah...I left out the part about spitting three times at the full moon while slinging a dead cat over your head. My bad.

Many's the time with the autolock enabled that I
walk around the truck to discover I forgot to unlock the
passenger side....

Requires this disable, OR maybe keypadding the
passenger door so I can open over there too....

Just a thought ....

I dont understand the fear of the auto lock

The door opens when you pull the hadnle from the inside whether it is locked or not. The door WONT autolock unless you are moving which means that it wont autolock on you at the gas station.

Of course I added the keypad to my 2000 -
Here is the how to for you guys with older trucks
