01's with blown motors...

To everyone that has a 2001 Lightning and has had a motor break, can you post your build date? I want to see if there is a pattern. No Tuner or mod info needed, just the build date of the truck please....

Totaled Mar 15, 2002 07:04 PM

Good question as I have wondered the same thing. Mine has taken everything I have thrown at it with zero problems :D I sure hope this season will be trouble free also!!!

Build date = 02-09-01

Have a few questions:

Being that the last thread that I asked them in, got locked, maybe I'll try them here. Being that we're talking about blown motors and all.

I'm contimplating a Diablo chip with a 2.80" blower pulley. And upgraded plugs as well I guess. I've heard many horror stories on blown engines/rods, etc. So I really don't want to go crazy with upping the boost levels.

-Just wanting to know if that set up of chip & pulley will be OK on my '01 'L'?? -Has there been anyone with troubles with that setup?
-What kind of boost increase numbers will I be looking at?

I'm kinda new with the modding of a s/c engine. Just want to do my homework before I possibly blow something up.

Also, I was told if I go with those mods, I should get myself an air/fuel meter, Stoichmeter. Which runs directly off the 02 sensor for reltime metering. Green=good. Red=bad(lean). Haven't heard anyone with this.

Thanx all.;)

Any mods can increase your chances of something messing up. Noone can answer your question, they can give opinions or personal thoughts.

Totaled,

I am feeling the same way, I have had 3-6 of extra boost for awhile and 100's of 1/4 mile passes with no problems.

Bob,

I dont think you have a worry, ANYTHING built on 6/13 is going to be rock solid!! LOL My truck was built on that dad and I was born on that day!!

Maybe I can be some help to ya.........

First if all I am pretty sure that the 2.8" upper offers 2# of boost over stock. With that, can I suggest running a 2# lower instead. For one it is an easier install and two you won't have to worry about belt slippage due to the small cantact area.

Secondly in regards to the A/F gauge, there are hundreds of us that have them. However they are nothing more than a cool light show except maybe during WOT runs then they can give some desent info. Mine is the bottom gauge........
