will NGK TR55's work?

Ordered TR5's from thunderracing.com for $1.95 a piece and they sent me TR55's.

Jim@JDM says they are only on heat range cooler than the TR5's (stock) and one higher than TR6's. With the mods listed in my sig, do you think they would work? or should I send them back and get TR5's?

Jim's post -->
"TR5's stock heat range
TR55's one heat range colder
TR6's two heat range colder
TR7's three heat range colder
(No matter what style of 7's) "

If they will work what should I gap them at?

Thanks for any help

I think Marvin looked it up in his NGK book and the only difference in the 55 or 5 was the Gap they are set at from the factory.

Maybe Marvin will see this and chime in.

P.S. Gap them at .040".

Chuck is right,
At least according to the NGK catalog.

The TR5 and the TR55 are the same heat range but the difference is the gap.
TR5 = .039"
TR55 = 0.59"

Hope this helps.

would it hurt to close the large gap (.055) to .04 - would bending the ground electrode down interfere with proper firing (might be at more of an angle) :confused:

do I have to get my chip reburned for plugs?

JBL:

Since you don't have a pulley, I think .040 is too small a gap. I believe you will get better firing(for mileage and performance) and completer burning of the intake charge if you gap them closer to .044. The .040 gap is usually recommended for higher boost levels than 'stock' levels. Our coil-on-plug system is very efficient and powerful.

Get what you pay for?

I would send them back and get the plugs you ordered. Dont let this Thunderracing decide for you. Thats crap!

Are there any Checker's in TX? I bought my TR 5's in Phoenix AZ for $1.59 from Checker. Just a thought...
