Installed TR6's, why does truck feel slower?
 

Ok, i'm still pretty new at this but here goes. I have a 2001 L with 11k mi, i'm running JDM flip chip, filter, breather and boost bypass, i just had the stock plugs changed to NGK TR6's (gapped at .40) a few days ago. I have tested it with my G-Tech and it is approx .2 tenths sec slower to get to 60 mph. My truck feels like it idles smoother, but for some reason it just feels slower, is it me or am I probably just imaging things? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Maybe you are spinning more with better Throttle response??

Sounds like your running too cold of a plug according to your mods.A tr5 should be better.I believe its good up to a 4# pulley with chip and filter.Try it.The TR6's are better for higher boosts and nitrous.

It's written under your hood on the radiator support brace, so why would you gap your plugs smaller unless you are looking for less power?

If you have extra boost or nitrous you should gap them down alittle. 38-40 is what most run....

IC: He doesn't have a pulley..........TR5s would be better at stock gap.

I agree with Mondo and LR, I also tried the TR6 and after about 2 weeks they were fouled out from daily driving. I went with the TR5 and got my power back and idle is smooth. I hate to tell ya but your probably going to have to buy a pulley now to make it right, you'll have to be the one to tell your wife.

I agree with 1badtk. Open up the gap even if you change plugs. My tr6s are gapped at .44 and I just changed pulleys from a 2 to a 4. Runs great. This ignition system should be able to fire a rusty nail submurged in oil. It will damn sure fire a .44 gap under boost. Yeeeeee, haaaaaaaaaaa. :D

If the truck is tuned right, NOS or not, the narrow gap is not required. Big shots of nitrous and wide plug gaps = heat. But with a narrow gap you will loose some of the benefit from the nitrous. Just tune it right, air/fuel, nitrous/gas mixtures need to be right and the plug gap can be .042-.046 as specified so you get the benefit of the spark available from our ignition system.
