If you haven't taken the time to clay bar your paint job, do so. I just got finished and had a few "rail dust" spots on mine. Not any more ;) Truck even seems whiter. Took about 3 hours to do the whole thing. Will wax tomorrow, my arm's tired. Good luck

Hey Frank,
Finished the FULL Zaino treatment last week before entering truck in a local show. You don't realize how much rail dust, etc. is on the truck until you start claying. I had people touch the hood during the show, they couldn't believe how slick and "soft" it felt.

Yeah whats the cheapest place to get the zaino system from?

About $100 for the entire kit that I've bought twice.
Clay, polish lok, polish, tire shine, etc.

The clay is about $16 for two bars, but one bar should be enough depending on what shape your truck is in.

I got my clay bar at pep boys. "Clay magic" is its name. Im sure it doesnt matter which brand. I just got done applying 2 coats of Meguiars' Gold Class Paste. I believe you guys when you say that Zaino is great stuff but it is sooooo much work and I really love the Gold Class wax. Never seen a $10 wax make a white paint job look so deep and shiny. Beats the heck out of my old wax, Mothers California Gold pure Carnauba. By the way, if you clay bar your truck and start to use up the lubricant it comes with, just take it to the sink when you get down to the 1/2 way point in the bottle and fill it back up with tap water.

You can save yourself some money all together and just fill up your bottle with water and add about a 1/4 tablespoon of your favorite car wash detergent. Mix it up real good and use it as you would use the lubricant. Works great and a heck of a lot cheaper. I would recommend using distilled water though, fewer contaminating micro particles that could do damage.

I will ask the stupid question: What is "Rail Dust"? I'm ignorant I know. :confused:
Is there any ill affects of using a Clay bar on your paint? Do you wear out your paint sooner? Is there intervalls you should clay the truck/car?

My white paint is starting to look a bit dingy. I think I'll work on mine before winter sets in. Thanks for the info.

I clayed my truck the weekend I received it. Did the whole Zaino routine also. Smooth as butter.

jwrape: Rail dust is what comes from the train as they ship the trucks. It sticks to the paint in small particles and can be removed with the clay bar. As the bar removes it, it leaves a small rust spot that the bar will remove with more buffing. If your truck is new I would recommend waiting about 3 months from the date of manufacture before waxing or clay-baring your truck. Wax keeps the paint from "breathing" and hardening like it should. I have never done the clay before. How do you apply it, back and forth or in curcular motions???????

Does the clay come off on the paint ro does the soap/water keep it intact with the rest of the clay?

PFA: Apply it using back and forth motions. Sometimes the clay does come off but comes off the paint easily with another swipe of the bar. Doesn't hurt the paint at all.
