I am currently installing my new 90mm MAF and chip on my truck. I have an airaid box with my own ram air mounted to this box. The bolt lineup is perfect for the MAF but the hole in the box is a little smaller. It will bolt up perfectly but my question is will the smaller hole in the box that the filter mounts up to restrict too much air flow to the MAF sensor. Also if I have to remove the box, where can I find the piece that combines the filter and MAF. Without the box, I have no way of mounting the filter! Like I said, it bolts up and fits perfectly, its just the hole through the box is a little smaller, can I run like this?? Also, mounted to the bottom of the box is what looks like a small thermosthat or something, what do you guys do with this when you remove the box??

Can you cut a bigger hole in the box? It won't hurt for the hole to be smaller, but you will restrict some air.

 

my new chip is burned for the 90mm MAF. Will the smaller hole have any effect on this setup?
