I'm not doing real well at this attachment thing...
Thanks for the last minute help on choosing between Goodyear 275's and 285's. I split the difference and put the 285's in back and the 275's in front. This makes a proper tire rotation impossible but I don't think the tires are going to last that long anyway.
Also, thanks for the help on inspecting the new wheels for quality. I snooped around their warehouse and ran across a loading zone with about 100 various wheels marked for return to the manafacturers - a confirmation that they inspect all of their wheels before delivery.
Chrome is great. Wheels are well finished with no rough edges. Replica is loyal to the original design but the larger size maintains the original spoke width so a lot of brake shows through due to the enlarged space between spokes.
They all balanced well but it took a lot of lead to get a couple of wheels right - 500 grams in one case.
I can't really give you the price because this was part of a larger transaction with a mutual friend that involved a lot of other things. Just call the shop directly, speak to David DeBerry - he's a straight shooter who has high customer care standards.

((I may be out of line saying nice things about these wheels - after all, I've only had them a day.))

trab you missed my thread!
hey trabuco, I posted a thread asking about your side pipes and u didn't reply yesterday :P. Would you mind telling me how much u payed for your guy to custom install / buy/make the parts needed? I'd like to get side pipes done of my black 2000 L.
It took 500 grams to balance one wheel? How far out of spec are you willing to accept. That's over a pound to balance you wheel. Sounds like bad wheels to me. Don't care how good they looked I would not accept that. Sorry no flames intended. But I believe Ford's spec on wheel balance is 3oz max each. I will confirm that.

Unkiller - sorry I missed the thread. If I go out of town for a week it's impossible to muscle back through all the stuff that stacks up on the Board. The guy who did the side pipes adamently told me he never, ever wanted to do them again. He took a lot of time and did a great job but he didn't make any money. He's in Orange, California so it wouldn't do you much good anyway. To find the pipes run a search on AC Cobra (both originals and replicas) and go the Boards just like this one and run searches - there are three or four sources and prices run from high 200's for chromes to 1500 for custom polished stainless. Hope this helps.
Silver Bolt - I took the 500 gram because I don't know squat. I'm calling to verify the weight and I'll make an issue of it. Thanks for the heads up.
RTKilla - I don't know why I didn't get Dunlops. More of my "don't know squat" I guess.
By the way, a weird thing is happening. When I am at a stop light I have now observed four different over weight women staring at my wheels. I'll keep count and update you...

500 grams
I've balanced a lot of rims. The only time a wheel took over 300 was went it was slightly bent. Some steel wheels would take more weight, but 500 on a new mag wheel is a little high.
Another thing they could have done is counter balanced the wheel. You can get a lot of weights on a wheel if you keep placing them 180 degrees from each other.
If 500 oz are in one place, then something is rotten in Denmark.
