2001 Wheel balancing issues??????

Took the L into Discount Tire for it's first rotate/balance....the tire tech had HELL balancing 2 wheels. He put them another spin balnce machine with the same results. Ended up deflating the tire and rotating 180deg.....finally balanced out but he said they still took quite a bit of weight. The interesting part is that he said this is not the first time they've had problems balancing a 2001 Lightning wheel....Has anyone had this same problem?

I had '99 L wheels put on my '98 STX about a month ago and I don't think they balanced them too well either. My bro-in-law has a '00 and he had wheel balancing problems too. I had the balancing weights put on the inside of the wheels. I was told later that the only way to balance L wheels is to put the weights on the outside and have a good tech with a good balancing machine. Looks like I'm going to have to take the truck back and have them re-balanced with the weights on the outside this time. Damn! Didn't want to scratch the wheels up.
Anyone else had balancing probs on their L wheels? Any input is appreciated.

i hear we can go to any goodyear dealer and get our tires rebalanced for free since the truck comes with goodyears from the factory so call up your local goodyear dealer and find out if it is true . a friend of mine slp97camaross told me about this, he also sent someone to goodyear and they did do it for free.

Thanks for the advice SLPCAMAROSS98. Unfortunately I don't own a Bolt and when I bought the wheels I didn't purchase the F1's that come with the L's. I purchase Michelin's. I heard the same story about taking it to a Goodyear place and having them balance the wheels/tires but I don't have Goodyears. I guess I'll try to take them back to the original place to see if they can get it right this time.

I had a race tire go bad, so I recently had one race tire mounted and balanced. The place charged me $30. They said it takes a long time to mount and balance an 18 inch wheel. I had them do it because I was in a hurry, but I felt like I was getting ripped off. I watched the guy balance the wheel, and I think it did take him about 1/2 hour for the whole job. Now that I have time, i am going to shop around for a better price, but I don't think they ripped me off as much as I originally thought.
