What's the formula

for figuring HP from a run at the drag strip? A buddie told me today that its more accurate than a dyno but I didn't get to ask him how to figure it out.

These aren't entirely accurate, but they're good enough for the girls I go out with. ;) Good luck.

Lowner: I've been thinking about dynoing my L. I ran a search on 'dynojet' and found several in the big 'A'. I also found one in Thomasville(South Ga. Corvettes), which would be an easier trip for me. We'll talk Fri.?

I'm a big proponent of dyno's; did alot of work with them on 2-wheelers. The key is to get someone that knows how to run the dyno and get air/fuel #'s if possible (Your tuner will love you.) Also, my limited experience with the L suggests that they are pretty sensitive to heat. The dyno can correct for temp and B.P. but will not take into account how hot your motor is. Ideally let it cool down all the way then when the temp starts to move let it rip (around 140 degrees or a little less). Operating temp is important especially if you want to compare before and after mods.

Around here, Sat. is open dyno day. Its pretty fun to hang out and see the #'s from other cars. People not familiar with the L freak at the blower noise. Then they really soil their britches when they see the HP and torque. I love the look on the Cobra and F-body guys faces. Problem is, none of them want to race even after you tell them you are giving away 1/2 ton.

Duck01,
Interesting coincidence. The buddy who told me to test it at the track is a long time Grand Nat'l drag racer. The link you gave me is from a Grand Nat'l guy too.

Can you spell F R E A K Y ? :)
