Looking at a lightning!!!

Hi all,

I've found a lightning at a local dealer ship and would like some opinions of the truck and price. I talked with the salesman and he told me it's a one owner(guy in his mid 30's) that traded it in on a new raptor. It's an 03 with 43k and their at $18,250 on the price. Its dark silver with 22" eagle alloy wheels and Pirelli Scorpion tires that i would call in good shape. Truck is in great shape, I noticed some scratches on the bumper cover and tailgate, nothing major. Interior looks new and it still has the factory 6disc cd player. Truck has magnaflow exhaust and has been lowered. The lowering of the truck is what concerns me. I'm not sure how it was lowered but the bump stops are sitting on the control arms. I figure the springs have been heated, cut, or replaced with lowering springs. Either way it doesnt look like its gonna drive very well with it sitting on the bump stops.

Imo and this may just be me so take it for what it's worth... but the beauty of the trucks is when they were stock. I would want a lightning with stock wheels, grilles, etc.

You can easily remove the stock bumpstops and replace them with shorter ones.

It looked to me like the bump stops that were on there were only about an 1.250" long, and they were sitting down hard on the control arm. If I were to shorten them say about 3/4" then that would only allow for around a half inch of travel which isn't alot.

Also, does the price of the truck seem to high?

Any time you lower a vehicle you're going to have less travel. My bumpstops are about .25 inches thick and I rarely hit them, you could even take those bumpstops completely out and bot have to worry about hitting them at all because your suspension won't even travel that far.

Also that price is a bit high, but probably average for a low mileage truck being sold at a dealer.
