how to remove this?

how to remove this?
I can't get this hose off my truck. It goes to the heater core. this is the new part, which i can't get to disconnect.

I'm assuming there is an easier way of removing this type of clip, but i just yanked it out of there. broke it off. now truck is back to normal.

There is a special tool that basically wraps around the hose on one side and pushes in the back of the fitting to release the clips

i could push one side by hand, but the other would get tighter. made it irremovable.
