Rear End Question
Rear End Question
It snowed here the other weekend and I had no choice but to drive the L. I got on some ice and was spinning but not moving. I got out and had my wife hit the gas as i pushed. she got it up to about 3000 RPM's and I notice the drivers rear tire isnt' spinning but the passenger is. something wrong here or is that just the LSD?
Sounds like your differential clutches are worn out. Replacing the stock clutches is a project which requires many special tools and is time consuming. Usually the best and sometimes cheapest fix is a tru-trak differential.
Know the best place to pick up that? Hard to install?
I got my truetrac from sadler powertrain in Cedar Rapids Iowa. Price was about $500 for everything and they ship nationwide. Installed it myself in about three hours. You do need some special tools.
I agree the truetrac is a huge improvement over stock. But, if you are concerned about traction on ice you should know that the truetrac is not ideal for that situation. The only time I get my truetrac to not work is when I have one wheel on ice and one on pavement. It needs some resistance from the slipping wheel to get the other side going. Typically you can feather the brake and that does the trick. Other than that, I have no complaints with the truetrac. Since I am not willing to give up the nice road manners of the LS rear end, it is the best fit for me.

ice really isn't the problem and i havent had a chance to test it on dry conditions yet, hopefully i will this weekend. If i powerbrake or even floor it from a dead stop, both tires should burn right???? I just wanna make sure it working right and if not I'll get the trutrak beign its just a daily driver i don't think the locker is needed.

Most people don't know about the Locker, from what I have seen it lasts longer and can handle more power
I'm talking about these two:
