Audio system, weakest link

I'd like a better bass response , My wifes 08 Caravan's system is outstanding for a stock system,, Why do ours suck ? With a limited budget,, is it the head or speakers, where to start ? Thanks, Ted O.

Ok, my apologies’!!

What I ended up doing was to purchase a Pioneer (I think) system, it was years ago… (I still have it)
What it consisted of was a middle hump, and it blended in with the dash, and it had a neat little tray on top, and it looked like it belonged..
It was a 200 W system that included a 6” or 8” woofer.
Very easy install, of course it eliminated the middle seat, but I don’t have any need for it..
It was not the greatest especially for the hard core stereo enthusiast, but it did add a punch to the weak stereo!

It was all over this forum in 2003 or there about, I will do a search and see if I can find those old threads…
In addition I don’t know if they still sell it.

And I am sorry, but I just count help myself, you know when you stop playing or being a kid, you get old!!!
Maybe someone will remember it and chime in!!

I attempted a search on the unit that I was taking about, but was unable to find it!! And a lot of those links from that time no longer work!!!

However: if you do a “search” on f-150 stereos, on any forum you will find a whole bunch of reading, maybe that is why I found your question amusing!!!

Ask a stupid question...

Of course it's the speakers. Even us idiots know that.

Thanks for your input, Just needed to know where to start, don't have money to throw at it, was hoping either the speakers or the head unit would work with one or the other being upgraded.. I did'nt see that addressed in any of the many post I read on the subject... Again thanks..

I replaced the door and cab speakers in my 03L and it made a huge difference. I spent about $150 at bestbuy for some speakers that were on sale and it would be where i would start. Personally the factory head unit is great for me for now. I kinda like having the 6-disc changer and all because I hate changing disc.
