Went to Steeda's 20th Anniversary Saturday
 

Well I was the only Lightning there but I did get a chance to run the 1/4 mile drag stip against a heavily modified GT500 Shelby and run the SCCA course.I ran one of the vendures GT500's it had a pulley upgrade kit,cold air intake, full exhaust,intercooler upgrade and custom tune. I had my 2001 Lightning 6# lower magnaflow exhaust with x-pipe and Cat delete,NGK TR6's Magnum Powers Blower modified stock airbox with K and N drop in filter RWTD 19deg race tune running on 109oct unleaded VP racing gas and my 16x11.5x26 MT ET Streets. I asked the guy if he wanted to race and he said yes but wanted to run me 3 times so he could get used to the track.The temp outside was 93deg and humidity was 90%. 1st run I had a 13.2 @103.90 he ran a 13.8 @ 112.36 my 60' was 1.98 his 2.701(spin spin spin) I bet him by 4 truck lenghts.
2nd run me 13.188 @ 103.29 him 12.941 @ 115.76 he beat me by 1 and 1/2 cars my 60' was 1.922 his was 2.291. 3rd run me 13.350 @ 102.56 him 12.764 @ 114.75 he beat me by half a car I had him by .5 on the raction time. So what do you guys think my best time of the day and it was hot and I mean hot. My best time was 13.130 @ 104mph I usually run 12.70's with my stock blower in cooler weather(60's) but my time were not much slower than the GT500 that put down over 500hp at the rear wheels. Oh and the SCCA course I got some wierd looks when I entered I was the only truck the rest were mustangs and out of 21 cars I was number 14 sure was fun running through the course with Hankooks on the front and ET Streets on the rear but the trck never lost it composer taking 62sec to run the course.

Seems like you help up your own. Don't worry about the weird looks, I get it all the time. It starts with disgust, thinking the truck won't make it through the first corner to total shock when they see tail lights, culminating with tears and suicidal thoughts when they realize that their pride and joy was totally humiliated by a lowly pick-up truck. That's why I maintain that my bolt is more fun than a 100K Porshe. :lol:
