500 miles now and still low on power!

Turned over 500 miles and can not break the tires loose from a dead stop! 450 Ft. Lbs. should be able to MELT the rubber with the slightest twitch of the throttle. The only way I can break them loose is by using the brake. What gives? Did any of you guys have low power when new only to have it come alive later?

Be patient.... And keep in mind that if you are driving on textured concrete like we have in Dallas the traction in a straight line is almost unbeatable. Try smashing your right foot on asphalt side road one time.

The Lightnings simply hook up on good dry pavement. I have a rough concrete bridge that I race people on sometimes. I am able to stall up to 1200-1300 rpm and only slightly spin the tires. These Lightnings simply rock off the line. Hence the 1.9 60' times that are possible on radials. Mustangs and Camaros need drag radials to do that.

The Lightning is the king of the short stop-light race.

I've got 1100 on mine and it is starting to loosen up according to my ass-o-meter. First trip to the dyno will be this Saturday. Bone stock and then let the modifications begin.

jrcase, if it's any consolation, mine has about 480 miles and won't break loose either. My friend has a 99 Lightning that will just run away from mine - for now. Took a couple of thousand miles for the 99 to break in. I'm not worried, just being patient. Even without the tire smoke, it still moves out very quickly!

I couldn't break the tires loose from a dead stop on my truck until the tires had a good 8000mi on them. It would always grip and take off like a rocket unless I brake torqued it.

Patience young one. All good things come in time.
Around 1500 miles you will notice an improvement.
Around 3000 miles even more so.
Smile and enjoy the ride.
