Question Yellow F150's on semi rig

On my way to work I see a semi rig with what appears to be brand new F150 flareside extended cabs in yellow! I went to the Ford built it site to confirm there is no yellow. So what is up with this?

Possibly they are fleet vehicles, like for construction or a city/transit authority?

Saw a brand new 2001 on my dealer's lot with a bright orange 'factory' paint job. The window sticker said something about 'Special' paint. There is a construction company around here that uses that color scheme.

When I was planning on painting my new L yellow I sought out all the sources I could. One was a dealer prep operator I visited in Placentia, CA called "Roll-a-Long". It was a huge operation with well over a hundred trucks in various stages of aftermarketedness.

Among them were no less than ten bright yellow F-150's - mostly Super Cabs - that had been painted a too orange, too crass yellow and outfitted with lifters, after market wheels, and offroad tires.

It was this encounter with what one person called, "The most beautiful yellow I've ever seen" and me seeing something akin to a taxi cab yellow that lead me to abandon the idea of repainting a brand new truck. I'll keep the $6500 and retire a few months earlier...

On certain models a dealer can ask for something special.

I once had a customer ask me for a green Crown Vic with blue interior. I asked ford and they built it. I also asked for a BIG deposit. I did not want that car to end up on the lot. That was in 1997 and if the ordering customer did not take the car, it would still be there.

Who, in their right mind, would want a green CV with blue guts? How gross is that?

Almost as bad as the mint green Tbirds and Tauruses with dark green guts. YUCK!!!!

I have seen almost every color combination, and I have to say, I think they should only make black, gray, tan, and/or charcoal interior in all vehicles. But, the interior color must compliment the exterior color scheme. The maroon 94-95 Mustang GTs that had white & black leather were disgusting.
TAN people, tan.

Now, the 93 yellow Mustang LX 5.0 conv. with either black or white interior did look good, but the white is just the wrong color for interior. Talk about a full time job trying to maintain.
