How fast for burnout?
What is the top speed you can go in a L and still be able to break traction if you stomp it? And let me know if it is in OD or not. I Hope I make sense here!
Well, If I understand this right, you want to know what the fastest speed was that will create tire spin??
On dry pavement, I could easily floor it from 40 m.p.h. and creat a smoke fest.
On wet pavement, I had the pleasure of going sideways at 90 m.p.h. after a "stomp" of the go-go pedal at 80. Talk about fun....

I got some good tire spin on a downshift from 3rd to 2nd at 70+mph...road was cold, but the concrete was good.
No Lightning is going to spin in OD unless you're on ice or unless you have 1000hp.
What is cool, though, is that the truck pulls hard in OD, and you can also keep it planted as you approach the 3rd to OD shift and not worry about hurting parts.

I guess I should have tried to make myself a little more clear about the OD thing. You guys are telling me what I wanted to know, but when I was talking about being in "OD" I meant that it was selected with the gear shifter as opposed to driving around in "1" or "2". Basically what I was getting at is: say you are driving down the road, cruising along at about 40mph, and for no reason other than because you can, you just stomp it. Will the tires break loose and you be able to spin pretty much as long as you want? Also, I'm really wanting to know mainly about a stock L, cause that's the way it will stay for a while (read: not long! but I'm just curious). Thanks and I still hope I'm making sense! LOL Can't wait to get mine! The Cobra will be sitting around a lot more when I do get the L!!!
I don't think I would want to shift into 1 from 40mph anyway! Man I bet the Revs would be up there! My Cobra will do 45 in 1st and 80 mph in 2nd, but it is spinning!!! Right at 7000rpm and screaming right along. Had a friend with me once right after I got the Cobra and was telling him about being able to do 80 mph in 2nd, he was basically calling me a liar... I was cruising along at 65 on a state highway while we were arguing about it when all of a sudden a guy pulls out in front of us from a State Park. I didn't didn't warn him and went from 5th at 65mph right to 2nd and nailed it. The tires barked from the downshift (bout threw us into the windshield lol) and I showed him that it WILL do 80mph in 2nd. hehehe I don't do it often, cause it has to be rough on the car, but it is a blast.
With my new JL chip I can cruise at around 35 or below and floor it to burn about a 20-30 foot patch of smokey burnt rubber. ;-)
Anything more than 40 and it'll spin a little and go. I guess that's because it drops back to first under around 35mph. If you wanna do that get a chip! By the way, this is with the Overdrive turned on. I don't think it makes much of a difference rather it's off or on.

My L is 100% stock and if I punch it from about 25mph or below it will downshift and spin the tires. Not smoke them like Spiro's will do but they will spin. The type of road surface has a lot to do with the exact mph it will do it at. Maybe it's my imagination but the truck feels a lot stronger right now with the cold weather we're having here in Pennsylvania.
