Diablo *VS* SCT

How many of you are using Diablo and how many of you are using SCT? I'm just trying to see which of the two you guys think is the best device. I just moved to SC recently and I found a tuner that's really close and all he uses is Diablo. I was thinking about ditching the SCT Eliminator Chip and getting a Predator. Give me all the PRO's and CON's for both.

Inny or Outty
Fold or Crumple
Over the Top or Pull from the Bottom
You know "Pepsi or Coke" ??? Differant strokes for diff folks
V's into little boys, guys like Rich chubby chase, (I think Josh likes Nuns),
I aint even going there with what Gator's into

Go back a yr and most would say SCT always had a slight advantage. It's more plug and play, more choices in the drop down menu, a better chance of having a near perfect start up tune (no matter what changes you made).
Unfortunately it now seems their new Live Wire is as bad as the Diablo Predator was when it first came out (so all of a sudden your hearing bout SCT hater's)

I will say this, Sal/PSP switched to selling and tuning SCT (he also does Diablo) JJ/Woodbine Motor Sports did the same, Johnny/JLP also, JDM has always been SCT only, and the list goes on and on and on....
Point being those that werent became
and those that always were still are

I used Diablo the first 3-4 years of L ownership and never had a bad thing to report, I switched to SCT the last few yrs and do feel there is an advantage.
It seems to run absolutely flawless in every possible situation, condition, and set up, and thats good enough for me. SCT BABY!!!

If he's a GOOD Tuner and he's set on Diablo, and he knows how to tune
"LIGHTNINGS" I would consider going back to Runnin' with the Devil . However if he just happens to be a Diablo guy that says he can tune your L I would look for a Lightning tuner and stay SCT
You got my opinion...

PS
As for Data Logging I dont think either do it correctly but I never tried it and if I wanted to I would prob go a diff way

Thanks for your input Rob. I guess I was just looking on the convenient side. This guy is closer and it would be easier to get tuned by him. But I have two great tuners withing 3 hours or so. AVT and ATS. Arthur is currently in the process of rebuilding his shop because his old on burnt to the ground. He'll be up and running in 3-4 months. I've heard nothing but great things about him and he uses SCT. I spoke with him the other day and he seems very knowledgable. I haven't spoken with anyone at ATS, but from what I hear, they know their stuff as well. I guess I'll just suck up the drive and go see one of them and just use this local guy for dyno pulls.

I had a can tune Predator 91 oct., Now I have an SCT from PSP. It is a milder, but safer tune. Sal said once I get it dynoed and a wide band he can tune it to be more agressive and still be safer. Six of one half a dozen of the other.

I feel your pain. I have wasted more money on chips and tunes than most spend on their entire mods. I started with a hypertech tuner and changed to a Kenne Bell switch chip, which I have to say was the best mail order tune I have ever had. Later, as my mods increased I went with SCT (PSP) and was pleased for a couple weeks...Blew it up a month later and went built. The truck stayed at JLP about 2 weeks and Johnny tuned it with Diablo, I ran that for about a year with no problems. Broke a valve spring and went with JDM heads and the tune was way to rich using their heads and cams. I guess Johnny's head and cam combo flowed a little more air. Just by changing heads and cams the A/F went from 12.0 down to 10.0. I took it to Memphis, TN and went back with SCT (DSR tuned) and now I run 2 tunes that are open for small changes and couldnt be happier. I hope I am done with all that stuff and I look to be staying with SCT.

rotorwash I can relate, I first bought a Diablo Sport Chip (holds only 1 tune)
Then the Diablo Delta (hold 3), Then the Diablo Chip Master Revolution (holds 3) and now on on my 3rd SCT X Cal 2 (the other 2 went with the other 2 L's)

Dont even get me started on Pulleys, I believe that count was close to 20, god knows how many differant S/C's, 2 Reg Eatons, 3 Ported Eatons, the Mag, 2.6 KB, Whipple

Thats why now when someone says what should I do first I always try and convince people it's MUCH CHEAPER IN THE LONG RUN to go to a KB / Whipple right away and get an XCal 2

Rob more than me......In more ways than one, Im sure.

Like Rob, I have been through pulley combo's and SC (stock, ported and KB). Now the 2.6 keeps calling my name but I have to get the tranny done first. 60k on her and she drives great but cant take the abuse at the track anymore. I cant complain, heck its been over 400 RWHP since she was 6 months old and I beat on it pretty regular....The tranny of course

Anyway, back on topic, I dont think you can go wrong with SCT.

With the current stuff from both companies, you can do the same things. I "prefer" SCT tuning software, but I still have no problem tuning with Diablo. One thing to keep in mind, is that both companies are always updating their stuff and coming out with new things. They also both have their pros and cons. Some days I curse SCT and some days I curse Diablo.

What matters the MOST, is that you go with what the TUNER you use likes best because they are the ones doing the hard work.
