I would like to hear about and see pics of your battery relocation set-up's. I've been looking into doing this for quite a while but haven't been confident enough to pull the trigger yet. I'm hoping that with some wisdom and pics from you guys I'll have what I need to tackle this project. Let's hear and see what you got...

Unless you really have to relocate it I would not suggest it.

This is the only pic I have.

I like everything hidden so there is no holes in the rollpan or switches people could mess with when not at the track. so we put the switch behind the license plate and put posts there too to charge the battery inbetween rounds.

Very stealthy.

Yes, I've seen that before. I may end up going with that way of hooking it up. I was just trying to see what all you fellas were doing...

That looks great Vinnie! Is that the preferred location for the battery in the bed or would one want to mount it as far to the rear of the vehicle as possible? I love your nitrous set-up.:rocker:

I mounted mine under the bed, on the passenger's side. I have not yet installed my disconnect, but plan on putting it behind the tag as well.

This box is stainless, strong and easy to work with...

In order to move battery to rear of truck the original moulded box has been used.
Mounted under rear of frame using some simple fabricated brackets welded to tow
structure. (I keep this just in case I need to tow something)
Battery is easy to lift in and out if required.

Heavy duty 70m2 cables are run from front of truck and connected to existing terminal box on bulkhead and battery grounding point.
A separate 35m2 heavy duty cable is run from the Alternator output terminal and connected back to the battery positive terminal, this allows disconnection of the battery positive feed without the need for a painless relay.
Operation of the isolator will kill power and shut down engine.

All cables are protected with plastic cable sleeving & all terminations are crimped and soldered then heat shrink sleeving is applied.
I have included a 100amp hook up socket for charging and allowing for an additional battery to be connected when at the track so I can keep intercooler pump and fans running without draining the main battery, this socket is connected to the output side of the isolator which allows powering up from auxiliary battery only preventing power drain from main battery if required.

Nope. Its probaly not the best location, but Its the best location for me. Its in a part of the bed that I do not use.
I like to do shows also and the optima battery and billet cover look pretty trick. For me its not always about the 1/4.

JDM has a Battery holder thats puts the battery dead center right in front of the bumper under the truck. It is a very trick piece and I believe puts the battery in the best place for weight distrobution.

I know Don Justis has one and so does a few others

Vinnie, I have that same setup as Don and love the location.

I have the new JDM setup on mine. It looks professional, fairly easy to service, and puts the weight where I want it. The shutoff and charging posts are behind the plate.
I will post pics of a lot of new, and neat things when my truck is back.
