Doesn't matter what you got, someone's got you beat
Installed a new distributor in my LT1 Vette this weekend and it purred like a kitten. Called my friend and said lets go cruise around. We're heading down McDowell Road when this black thing cruises by me. Dear God, it's a Lomborgini Countach! The light ahead turns red and my friend says get next to him! I say yeah right. He says, you gotta run this guy! He says, how often do you get a chance to be sitting next to a Countach. Well, of course I wouldn't even consider running a piece of work like that. Light turned and we both accelerated nice and easy (I was glad he didn't hammer it, as he probably would have thought I was running him no matter how bad he destroyed me).
Just goes to show, no matter what you have or what you might build, someones got something better. |
You know a Lambo has a more top end then anything over the vette. That vette probably wouldn't have gotten beat by more then three or four lengths at the most by a Lambo. Put a 4:10 in that Lambo and see what she does, oh yeah.

There are just certain vehicles which are not meant to ever be compared to others.

I wouldn't have raced either, or maybe I would've just to see how fast they really are. A new Diablo VT is another story altogether. 0-60 in 3.4, quarter mile in 11.xx, top speed 200+, and a look that is downright bad@ss!!! If I had an extra 250K sitting around I would go buy one and smoke everybody!!

Undy,
By the looks of the '69 Vette in your sig, YOU'D be the other person that the Lambo guy should watch out for. Cool parts there. https://www.f150online.com/f150board/biggrin.gif ------------------ Jim Black '00 #1,757 built 3/30/00 Clear corners J.L. Single program J.L. Countach = S.O.B.?
'bet he was being nice as he was on such an ethical show as 60 minute (cough cough) care to wager it stands for the word begining with a "C" and ending with a "T" and it's not can't but .........?(word intentionally left out to avoid banishment) I'll shut up now. I wouldn't have been surprised if you actually couldn't have gave him a run for his money,at least in the quarter. The old Lambo's aren't as fast as you think, but the new Diablo's are very quick. Man I would've loved to see his face when I embarrassed him in my Ranger pick up!!!

C'mon guys,
Any of us with 9-10 sec in the 1/4 capable hot-rods could beat him...but, its a Lambo. I am not going to compare anything I have to that piece of machinery. Maybe its worth $250k to some, maybe its not to others...but, let's get real. I'm with 1998Nastruck...let's learn to tip our hat once in awhile. The sad thing about most of those cars, though, is that the owners don't really know what they have (except a prestigious piece of work). It's amazing that most of us "hot-rodders" don't end up owning something like that. I guarantee you, I'd have a shot of nitrous on that puppy within 2 weeks of ownership. https://www.f150online.com/f150board/wink.gif But, then again, I like tinkering too much. ------------------ Wes Tarbox 90 LX 5.0 (10.69 @ 134.7)--597rwhp/590rwtq 96 Cobra (12.34 @ 115.8)--392rwhp/433rwtq 99 Lightning (13.20 @ 103.8)--364rwhp/447rwtq 00 Expedition XLT 5.4 http://members.aol.com/Wa2fst/index.html [This message has been edited by WA 2 FST (edited 12-27-2000).] |
Who cares if you get smoked! how many more times are you gonna get the chance to get smoked? I could pull up along side of a '68 Hemi Dodge Dart factory Super Stock and I'm still gonna see what hes got ! I can't remember who it was here that tried a viper, but all he found out was is that, that damn car is fast!

Bring on the Countach...... I got something for him!

saw 60 minutes a few years ago doing a story on the Lambo factory. Bradley asked what what "countach" meant, spokesman thought for a sec, and replied "son of a bitch"

I would have screwed with him just to hear that V-12 at high rpm. If I owned one I would probably drive in 2nd at 7-8000 rpm all the time just to listen to it sing. If youve ever heard one in person you will not ever forget that beautiful sound.
