DJY, The drop is about 3" in the front and 4" in the back. On your truck you can trim the rubber bumper to allow some extra clearance for the axle but then the sway bar might hit the frame if you take a hard bump. I looked long and hard for that tonneau cover as it blends right in with the curve on the front of the bed. Innovations is the Manufacturer http://www.inn-fiberglass.com/
and it looks like they have a Dealer in Hawaii.

California is really tight on SMOG type stuff but you can basically modify anything else you desire. No inspections ever, unless you buy something that is classified "Salvage" then they basically check Lights, breaks, ect.....
Hope this helps.

Hello all..

I guess this a question for those who have dropped their L.. Did you have any problems with the front or rear sway bar.. I read the article about So Cal speed and lowering the L and they mentioned bending things and all sorts of bad stuff..

Did anyone have to bend or fabricate anything ?

Much thanks..

Big Poppa,
No modifications to either sway bar but:
I shortened the length of the end bolts and added polyurethane bushings on the front.
I had to lengthen the arms that attach to the frame on the rear (1.5") to give the bar more room to move so it would not hit the frame.

Sorry, but I'm confused. If you used a 2" drop control arm AND a 3" drop coil, was the front drop near 5"? I know the L sits SLIGHTLY lower than standard 150 - (which I think most stated drops are based on), but I didn't think it was that much diff. With a true 5" drop, my fenders would be even with or lower than edge of tread? Looking at your pictures, it appears to measure app. 1-2" above edge of tire. I only ask because I'm getting ready to do similar, and just trying to figure out what I want/need.

Bolt & Big Poppa, What I did for the front of my L. was put the Bump Stops that came with the Western Chassis A-arms in the place where the stock bump stops were. If I didnot do that the extenstions that came with the A-arms would hit the Bump stops. It works no problems or trouble. My drop is about
"3 1/2" in the front and "4" in the back. I thought about triming the rear bump stops but it isn't that bad now that I have the Doetsch Tech shocks. The Edelbrock I bottomed out all the time.

Lightstruck, The true drop is with the Bell tech "3" inch coils you are only lowering your L. "1 1/2", with the Western A-arms you get another 2 inches in drop! If you go and measure your L. from the center of the bottom the fender to the ground my L. measures "28 1/2" in the front
measures "29 1/2" in the back
Hope this is some help!

Thanks DJY, that makes complete sense. That does help! BTW, did you get pinion angle shims, or if not, have you noticed any "vibration"--that they are supposed to correct. Also, one company warns about driveshaft bottoming out in transmission unless you use their offset plates to move axle back slightly. (Although I think these are only needed/used maybe with 6" drop i.e. flipkit).
AND--yours is a fine lookin ride. Good Job!

Cool

DJY, sweet ride. Love the black trucks but they are very hard to keep clean. It truely shows that you maintain the truck very well. Keep up the good work.

DJY,
Do you have any idea on how much weight you saved with the A Arms? I know the stock one weigh 24 lbs each.

Thanks,

I just had to pay to ship two of them back about an hour ago. Two control arms, mounting bolts for sway bar, and a cardboard box were 58 lbs. I wouldn't count on any weight savings.

Cool

That is one sweet looking truck, David. Looking forward to checking it out in person. Have you run it at HRP yet? If so, what kind of times?
