Information on Ford's Lightnings
Hi to all,
Could anyone please tell me what kind of HP the lightings are rated at from the factory? In addition, what kind of rear gears are the lightnings using and what is the standard size of the tires (total height in inches)? What is the curb weight and what kind of quarter mile times could I expect from a standard Ford Lightning? I am so impressed with what I have seen in the youtube video clips and I am very interested to buy one. They are truly awesome machines! By the way, which transmissions would perform better in a quarter mile, the manuals or the automatic transmissions? Highly appreciate any help. Thank you and best regards, John |

Quite a few people have hit all over the 13's in stock trucks. |
Yeah, I've kinda figured that out in the five years that I've been watching these boards.
Ford's official data for 2002 models:
1999 spec is:
At some downhill track in NJ with VHT dripping on the track, a hotshoe driver, and the stars all aligned, those times can be bested. But the question was "what kind of quarter mile times could I expect from a standard Ford Lightning?" I stand by my response. |

Well my truck ran a best of 13.42@102. at a flat track no uphill or downhill. No head wind or tailwind.
No JDM mod either. But I do live in NJ so that must be it.:beers: |
My '00 L went 13.8 bone stock with a 2.1x 60' time. This was the first time I had ever raced at any racetrack.
My '01 L went 13.6 bone stock with a 2.1x 60' time. Both runs occurred at Cecil (I guess that could be considered a mod). There have been better times reported - your experience will vary... |
