Ported Intake Ports

Anyone make a ported intake plenum, well basiclly just the ports that match up to ported heads? I would think these ports restrict the flow into the higher flow heads. Pics, info, links, whatever if it has been done or why it hasnt been done, thanks

your the pro engine man IIRC your first post, Just make sure you step the runners the right way and itll give you some added flow, promod observed 30 hp or so from porting his lower intake.

i sent my lower intake to Fox-Lake when i got my stage 2 heads from them almost 5 years ago. its not advertised but they do do them. i would imagine most companies that offer ported heads will port match your intake as well.

promodlightning posted on a thread on nloc a month or 2 ago that the question was asked How much power from porting lower intake? And I quote his responce as being 30 hp gain. This is the only actual numbers I have seen actually put out there. You think that may be a little optomistic?

I have been doin some research and havent heard anyone talk about it and I have one apart now and realized the resriction so was curious if it was worth the effort. Why port the heads if the intake restricts? Even though its boosted it could still be a restriction.

just be careful on the short turn side, its already steep and on that side its eay to fowl up that radius, if you are not careful its difficul to blend the transition due to it being short and you cant get good angle to blend, also around the injector boss casting inside the runner youll notice that small hump, I would keep that shape and just open it up a little there. I have seen some guys square it off and take out too much. goodluck I think its worth doing, actual gains cant say for sure but for me its all in the details and all counts.

Might actually be a good candidate for Extrude-Honing based upon that. The material will obviously open up the ports but the flowing material should maintain a decent radius too. If I am not mistaken Buford T. uses an Extrude-Honed lower on his 10 second 'Heaton' L.

there are several people on this board that have ported stock intakes, if you want a better flowing intake for your 5.4 get the adapter plates and start off with a better flowing 4.6 intake. Yes the 4.6 flows better then the 5.4s from the factory

HI!... By installing a 4.6 intake manifold on a 5.4 with the adapter plates you accomplish, nothing but making the truck slower. You will lose the low end TQ and it will make it's max H.P higher up in the RPM range. This is why no one does it. It doesn't work.

yah but a tornado is a little less work involved then swapping intake manifolds.... They make tons of stuff thats "universal" on any car. But 5.4 --> 4.6 adapters is much more specialized....

im not familiar with the 4.6 manifold,,,,if this adaptor and manifold are used,,,will the height be higher then the 5.4 manifold?
