if you're too dumb to vote, don't vote...
|
MACD23,
I agree. but but but it was to confusing!I demand a revote..... WHAH WHAH WHAH....Maybe some credentials should be set aside for voters...say..you must pass a poll competency test?If you cant understand the simplicity of this you are not allowed to vote! I think the democrats are going to WHINE this election out! |
If I'm not sure, can I choose two(2)?
Hey, I'm from Florida.... Rich |
What I think happen, was people were so busy thinking about all the B.S. being thrown around by both guys, that they either changed their mind, and hope that the first vote would cancel out, or the forgot they even voted the first time, and hit the other guy.

It must be tough going through life as a MORON! If you can't read that ballot you are to stupid to vote.

Correction "too" stupid to vote.

Not sure how I feel about this whole thing, but if there were 19,000 people who made the same mistake, that would appear to substantiate that the ballet was confusing. Its not like it was just a few hundred people, 19,000 people are a mess of people. I am sure 19,000 people got up in the morning, took the time to go down to vote, waited in line and then purposfully filled out 2 holes so their vote would not count!!
I am not Republican or Democrate but what is so wrong with having another vote for that district so you can get a true count of how the people want to vote? Or are the Republicans affraid to really know what the people want? |
The people who say that they have been denied the right to vote since their vote was invalidated because they chose two candidates are the real dumba$$es.
1) They didn't read the instructions. 2) They weren't smart enough to figure out that two is more than one, which is, strangely enough, the number of presidents that you are allowed to elect. 3) If they knew they made a mistake by either choosing two candidates or by picking the wrong one, then it's their responsibilty to notify someone BEFORE they cast their vote, not after. The funny thing is that Palm Beach seems to have more than their fair share of idiots. In '96 they had over 14000 ballots invalidated because they chose more than one candidate. Jag, there were three thousand that supposedly voted for the wrong candidate, and nineteen thousand that were invalidated because they chose two candidates. Like I said above, that's their own fault, allowances for ignorance can't be made.
The reason why Palm Beach cannot be allowed to re-vote is that there is no guarantee that everyone will cast the same vote they would have the first time, especially considering that they already know the results of the national election. |
Don't have a dog in the fight, as which ever way it goes, it will not "really" effect my life one way or the other,
However, Palm Beach county is full of elderly retired folks, just like your and my parents/grand parents, that may not "see" as well, or be more easily confused than the younger generations. The Gore ticket was the second listing on the ballot, BUT it was the 3rd hole down in the center punch area. Technically the ballots violated Florida Law in that the law states the ballot must have the selection to the RIGHT of the name. In Buchanan's case the punch hole was to the LEFT of his name. Palm Beach county is the only county in FL using this antiquated method of voting, and when 14,000 to 19,000 people make the same mistake, it is not the people it is the process. Even Buchanan states the votes were improperly cast for him. Maybe the absentee votes will settle it by such a margin that this Palm Beach mess will not have an effect, but in any case, lets lighten up on the seniors, as with luck, we will all be there some day, still wanting to excerise our right to vote, and to have it count. Rex |
Not only did 15,000 people do the same thing in 1996 but the entire Process in Palm Beach county is supervised and implemented by Democrats. Everything was fine until they didnt like the way it turned out.
Lets just keep recounting until I like the count. Doug |
Actually, the demographics show that Palm Beach's average age is just under 40, so their problems don't stem from having too many seniors.
If someone, regardless of age, was confused by an arrow pointing to within millimeters of the hole they were supposed to punch, then the campaign issues were certainly too far above their heads for them to have made an informed voting decision. The lack of the ability to make an informed voting decision is the same reason why minors aren't allowed to vote. Anyone who is that easily confused should remove themselves from the voting pool. I think Bush is missing the boat when he states that the democrates approved the ballot and monitored the voting. The fact that both parties approved and monitored the vote is irrelevant!!! It is the PEOPLE that are complaining here that their votes were not counted. I agree, the parties can't complain, but the 19,000 people who tried to vote but got their ballot thrown out should have a right to complain. How can anyone, at this point at least, have confidence in the election. I don't care who comes out on top, there is no way that either party can say that the people's voice was heard and they voted for Bush. Especially now that the difference in the recount is at 329 as opposed to 1700 like it originally said. Can anyone say with a straight face that this vote count represents what the Florida voters voted?!? Thats my only point.

actually collier and lee counties have many elderly and they managed to vote properly (66% bush for collier cty...yaaayyy)
gore is just upset he didn't pay enough people for their vote. here in wis. i went to rallys for both. amazing that gore took our state when both of his rallies that i attended had less then 5000 people in attendance. yet when i went to see bush the building held 10,000 people and when it was filled to cap. the line of people still wanting to get in stretched for 10 city blocks. but then again the homeless people needing free cigarettes didn't get a free ride to the rallies probably only to the polls. escorted of course by a member of the democratic party. (yes i know they say she is just a volunteer...check her record) |
I think the picture speaks volumes of how EASY this ballot is to correctly punch. What IDIOTS can't figure this ballot out!
THERE SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE NO RE-VOTE 1. A re-vote give the re-voters the benefit of knowing who will win after the rest of the country has already voted and which candidates won which states. 2. All the Nader voters would immediately jump over to Gore's side with the knowledge that they could sway the election. 3. The Democrats designed, beta tested, and certified the legal computer (not written) ballot complying with Florida law. Let them live with what happened. 4. The Judicial system needs to STAY OUT of the election process. 5. Throwing out blocks of votes due to double punching, overvoting, or MANY other mistakes is commonplace during elections; and, West Palm Beach is NO EXCEPTION. Only that the race is so close is causing all the hooplah. 6. If you can't follow a freakin' arrow, then how the hell do you get around when you drive your car or truck/L. 7. A re-vote is the same as Hijacking the election. It's absurd to ask to do this. I'm so sick of all the media spinning of this whole process. You really see all the Libs true colors on TV/Cable because of this. I just puke when I see the Reveruuund Jesseeee Jacksooon on TV making pithy little comments stirring up the punch hole challenged. Puke!!! |
