Question regarding Down's gears???
 

I was looking through my MM&FF magazine and came across an ad for Down's ford selling sets of 4.10's for $495. My question is are these complete sets with everything you need for a gear swap? Also can anyone tell me if I can find a cheaper set anywhere? Thanks.

Us Gear has one for around $300. I think you have to get shims and pinion nut, but will still come out cheaper. Had a local place here in Houston do mine - parts and labor $550.

Downs ford tried to rip me off on 3.73 ford gears. I was supposed to get them installed this past saturday and my installer uses downs here in n.j. When I went there saturday to drop off my truck I looked over the gears and then saw his bill. with his discount downs charged him $415 dollars for the set. I said no WAY your putting those gears in my truck. send them back. I called 6 places saturday afternoon and found them in stock at Tommie Vaughn in texas for $199 bucks. F#@$ downs ford they will never get my business again. watch out for them they are RIPOFFS. thanks 95rcobra.
