5.4 4x4 swapped with Lightning motor?

I'm sure I missed the posts about this somewhere, but I couldn't find much under the search engine. Please forgive me if this has already been asked about a hundred times. Just post the link. lol.

I have a 97 5.4 4 wheel drive F150. Was thinking about throwing a super charger on it, but I would feel more comfortable having the motor and tranny rebuilt before I did this. When I started figuring up the cost and everything, I just wandered if it would be easier to find a wrecked Lightning and swap motors? How hard would this be?

Don't know if my 4x4 tranny would work with the 2 wd Lightning motor?
Would my 4x4 computer work with the Lightning computer? I know the Lightning computer would be set for a higher boost, etc. but didn't know what would have to be done to solve that issue? What else would I run into that I'm not thinkning about here? What exactly is the difference between the regular 5.4 and the 5.4 Lightnings? Probably would have to change pistons, injectors, fuel pump, stuff like that wouldn't I? Just don't know exactly what all would work and what wouldn't?

I know I read a magazine about a guy changing a 2wd F150 into a 4x4 with a Lightning motor in it, so it can be done, just a matter of how hard it would be... lol. Unless someone knows of some websites that sale completely built motors that were supercharged and ready to just drop in already.

Thanks in advance,
BT

tell me more guys

i have a 2000 f150 xlt sport 4x4 with a 5.4 automatic. truck has a 5" RCD lift and 35 " tires. long and the short of it is the truck is underpowered for its size. fairly sluggish off of the line, and forever shifting in and out of overdrve on the highway with the cruise on. i'm figuring that a lightning or harley svt 5.4 may be the answer, but wanna know exactly what i'm gettin into before i commit too it.

any help would be appreciated

Also check the supercharger forum. Several of us there have done the swap. I think You need to look into gears also.
