Thumbs down Anyone Else Having Brake Problems?

I picked my L up last week from the dealer, now have just under 1000 miles on it. Ever since I first picked it up, I noticed something a little weird with the front brakes, but it didn't cause concern at the time. Now, whenever I'm slowing down to stop (under 5 mph or so), it feels like the front right caliper is grabbing harder than the left, which is causing the ABS to kick in and make the pedal pulse. Sometimes if i let go of the steering wheel when doing this it will pull to to the right a bit. I'm going to have a Ford dealer look at it next week sometime, but wondered if I'm the only one or if others have had the same, or similar, problems. Thanks

Garrett

Garrett,
Mine does the exact same thing, and I drove two other 2000s at an SVT on track event and they both did it as well.

IMHO they all do this. Three for three for me. Only below 5 mph and with a slight turn.

I'm not sure if this is the same problem. I picked up my L it had about 600 miles and every time I braked the ABS kicked in. I had the dealer checked it out and found "flat spot in exciter ring and rebent into shape". My brakes feels fine now. I hope this helps.

Re-bent the exciter ring !

Get that thing replaced. It is not a mechanic-adjustable item.

Just try to get something in writing from your local Zone Rep saying that a damaged exciter ring can be 're-bent'.

Won't happen.

Part two:

Your left vs right brake pads might not be matched (lo-po vs hi-po mixup at factory).

Only way to tell is to look at (read) the codes on the pad edge (if new) or perhaps on the pad back (or wherever they're stamped).

It's worth the effort (piece of mind) to check.
