PRObleM's (read: pro-m problems)
Tested out the Pro-M last night. Background info; no chip, no exhaust. First, it appears I must cut and extend the IAT sesnor for the meter to mount correctly, not cool, so I tried to bend the inlet hose down to adapt to the the sensor plug...success. Problem, the mounting bracket for the meter is not anywhere near wher it's supposed to go. Solution, use high precision polymer mounting straps (read: zip-ties) to keep the meter from moving around...success. Problem, meter is very close to fan. Took it out to test performance. Problem, 0%-15% throttle had terrible stumble, above 20% throttle all was fine, blower sounded great https://www.f150online.com/f150board/wink.gif. I believe it may be fanwash attacking the hot-wire in the meter, what do you guys think? I plan to extend the IAT harness with electrical plugs so as to not cut the wires and then mount the unit as it was intended. Took it off last night and put factory box back on. Has anyone else had similar problems? I think it is fanwash but it may be a bad meter, any clues? Thanks in advance.

You definetly need to extend the wires for the temp sensor. The bracket should then mount in the correct orientation. See noelvm's post ealier in the month and he has lots of pics and instructions. I chose to disassemble the connector to the temp sensor so I only had one splice of the wires. It's a little tricky but it can be done if patient.

Hi Guys!
First off the Pro-M is an excellent meter. You should not be having problems with it. If you are not satisfied with your mounting system I can provide you with one of mine. As you will see in the photo I use a single hump hose and a connector pipe with the ACT sensor installed. The connector pipe is aluminum as is the bracket and it can be furnished with a raw finish or powdercoated. You will not have a fan wash issue with this mounting. I should have connectors hoses next week and can start providing these units shortly thereafter. I am authorized to sell Pro-M meters and can offer a complete package. http://www.zing.com/picture/p61496df...1/ffe4b1fa.jpg PS. You do not have to cut your ACT wires to use this system. In fact it mounts in the factory air cleaner holes (that is a rubber mount) and it does not shake and move about like some of the other mounts. ------------------ BABolt SVT#290 [This message has been edited by BABolt (edited 10-01-2000).] |
