L's in Hallsville, TX

There were quite a few of us from DFW and Houston. It was great to meet a lot of people and put faces with names. That's the best part. https://www.f150online.com/f150board/smile.gif I'd say 15 trucks were there. I'm guessing b/c I didn't count.

My observations are that all those who had chips of different varieties were running right around the same times. There was certainly no clearcut winner in a "chip war".

The best thing about this was that all of us ran really well. Air was decent, but far from outstanding.

I got 5 passes in and ran 13.203, 13.211, 13.299 (Andre...1 BAD TK should thank me. I dialed a 13.30 and broke out), 13.33 and 13.35. All trap speeds were over 103mph, best was 103.81. All passes were made on stock F1s. A LOT of guys out there had some sort of slick/DOT slick/drag radial tires.

I _think_ I had the best ET for a truck with no nitrous. Correct me if I'm wrong guys. I know Mark (Autothrottle?) had a 13.22 and Brian (Moonshine) had a 13.27. The difference could be nothing more than the fact I weigh 150lbs and these two guys are probably in the 175-200 range.

There were 2 juiced trucks there that I know of and both were running mid-12s. I'll let other people report their own times.

There were no trucks _I saw_ with the basic mods (chip/filter) running slower than 13.4-13.5s. So, everyone ran great.

I set my PB in my Cobra ripping off a 12.34 @ 115.8mph. Woo-wee. Gimme a rearend that will handle slicks and that puppy is in the high-11s for sure. https://www.f150online.com/f150board/smile.gif

Wes-
Congrats on the best time and I'm glad to see y'all did well.

Funny thing. I met a girl tonight that knows you. I never caught her name (was at a party and just never got around to introductions), but she said she goes to church with you. She was knowledgable in the subject of Lightnings and mentioned Allen, TX and a guy she knows with a new L. Turns out it was you. Small world. https://www.f150online.com/f150board/smile.gif Goes to show...be on your best behavior at all times cuz someone is always watching. https://www.f150online.com/f150board/wink.gif

Wes I agree a great time was had by all. I found it interesting how things are differnt in East Texas. The temp there was 10 degrees cooler than Dallas.

Also while I posted a new personal best as did others it was the trap speeds that were really great. [Tongue in cheek on] Since I dint think anyone would believe me I took an MPG of the end of one of my runs just to show the incredible speeds.. Check it out http://www.svtlightnings.com/svt/Hal...e/mvc-542v.mpg [/Tongue in cheek off]

Doug,

The Hallsville section on your page looks great. The pics turned out good. Looks like everyone did very well out there. Congradulations to everyone. I really enjoyed hanging out with everyone and putting faces to all the names. I just wish I could have stayed longer and not had any pinging problems. Are we going to try to do another one of these before the season is over?

BTW, my best was 13.43 @ 100.7
Not bad considering :P

Six runs:

First two on Superchip Street Performance program w/ET Streets.

60' - 1.945/1.964
1/8 - 8.638/8.655
MPH - 81.12/79.06
1/4 - 13.495/13.518
MPH - 100.67/100.70

Next three on Superchip Drag-Only program w/ET Streets.

60' - 1.924/1.929/1.892
1/8 - 8.560/8.532/9.002
MPH - 79.57/82.77/72.49
1/4 - 13.361/13.313/14.478
MPH - 103.92/99.78/90.56

Last one on Mettalica-induced Superchip Drag-only program on roasted F-1s.

60' - 2.518
1/8 - 9.753
MPH - 80.50
1/4 - 14.606
MPH - 101.21

I'm convinced that the Superchip Drag-only program I am running is not consistant enough for bracket racing. The third run was a good example. Best 60' time, but the truck layed down after the shift into second. This has happened only two other times, both at the track in the heat of battle. Although I had a slightly lower ET than Doug, he whooped me fair and square 3 out of 5. Even Go-rila couldn't hide his disgust. I could tell by the look in his headlights, "Dennis, you s#ck at drag racing".

But.... I probably had the best time of anyone there. Eliminated in the first round by .065. Got passed by a Chevy truck pulling a mini-van on the way home. LOL

Duck01,

That's pretty cool that someone in _college_ knows me. https://www.f150online.com/f150board/wink.gif Actually, I help out a lot with our high school youth group at church and that young lady you met has a sister in high school here.

But, I'm an "old" guy. https://www.f150online.com/f150board/smile.gif But, yeah, from what I gather she enjoys fast cars, so it doesn't surprise me that she knows about L's.

Autothrottle...good job on the 13.17. That's awesome.

Wes, as Mark (Autothrottle)posted he had 1 run which was quicker than your best, but you can lay claim to the quickest ET on F1's, and I'll claim 2nd place in that category.

It was a great trip. Lots of nice folks, pretty scenery, fast track, and more L's than I've ever seen in one place at the same time. This is the first time I've ever had to do a double take to figure out which truck was mine. I counted a total of 11 Lightnings, with an amazing 6 white ones.

Many thanks to Doug (Silver_2000) for leading the train both ways with his V1 and CB.

My runs -

13.376 @ 102.28
13.428 @ 102.21
13.373 @ 102.50
13.272 @ 103.27 - personal best
13.320 @ 102.85

All on stock F1's

Great trip, and we'll all have to do it again. Think we can get a similar group together to go invade Mineral wells for the autocrossing?

Silver_2000 Sep 18, 2000 12:13 AM

Amazing times on F1's guys.....

I posted some pictures on my Site www.svtlightnings.com

If you guys took some digital pictures that you would like posted send me an email. OR if you can tell who’s White Lightning is who’s in the pictures I will note the photos appropriately...

While the best I ran was 13.4 - I passed the finish line in front the 3 times that it counted https://www.f150online.com/f150board/wink.gif

Wes

Had a GREAT time even with the problem I had. Was a good choice to go to HALLSVILLE for some fellowship time. I wish I would have had more time to visit with all the guys. Making a 12.46 pass with a 50 Shot was kinda fun, then it was all down hill from there. Dealership says I have two fouled injectors, and could use a new set of plugs. OOOPS!
I am working with all involved here with the idea of a "TEXAS LIGHTNING SHOOTOUT". This is going to take some time, and planning looks like. Will get back with you on the basics as soon as I have them.
Great time fellow "L" owners, enjoyed meeting all of you and congratulations to Al for winning the RT of the day. Good Job Al .505, sorry it wasn't worth more.

SeeYa Later

WA 2 FST Sep 18, 2000 03:52 PM

Andre,

Makes perfect sense about the bad injectors and/or bad plugs. Too much load on the motor in high gear and I bet the extra high cylinder pressures created by the nitrous was blowing the spark out. Thus, your cutting out problem.

You'll get that worked out shortly, I'm sure.

Anyway, keep us/me posted if a big event is in the works. I think getting 100+ trucks would be difficult, but if we opened it up to all Fords, it wouldn't be THAT hard to make it happen.

Muddmann,

Unfortunately I will be missing my first FFW event in 8+ years. But, even if I'd been there, the L would be the tow vehicle for my LX which I always run in the True Street Shootout. So, chances of meeting up with anyone else here would be slim and none. TS pits in a completely different area...of which we have no choice.
