Couldn't stand it anymore !!!!
Couldn't stand it anymore !!!! Today, after owning my Lightning for 6 weeks, I did my first MAJOR smokin' burnout! It was awesome. I laid down 30 to 40 yards of perfectly straight F1's. It didn't hook up till I hit 3rd. Where I live it's difficult to find a place to try such a thing without having a police helicopter and swat team immediately surround you. I snuck quietly into a nearly deserted industrial park. Drove around cautiously checking it out. Drove to the end of a dead end street, did a uee. Told the wife "Watch this", then hammered it. It was a beautiful thing..... I've had my truck for only 6 weeks (1500 mi) and I'm on my third SuperChip program. It went like this: 1) Program R7. I got this chip when my truck was one week old. The head banging shifts at low speed sucked. Basically made the truck undrivable. I called my Superchip distributor and told him I wanted to return it for a full refund if that's the best they could do. He said he'd do a free reburn to fix it. 2) Program R7LF (less firm). This chip was much more driveable. Shifts were still pretty jarring though even at 1/4 throttle. Much better than the straight R7 though. I was much happier with this chip, until I heard about R9 that is. Called my dealer and told him I wanted to upgrade to the R9. He whined a little but then agreed to burn for free. 3) Program R9. Got it today. ABSOUTLY AWESOME. It's like having a completely new truck. Low end, low speed power is GREATLY improved. All aspects of shifting at all speeds are superb. After driving around for a few hours getting the feel of this new program..... I JUST COULDN'T STAND IT !!!! Red Racer,
I too have the R9 program. Have had it about a week. Are you getting what sounds like a miss at constant speed and throttle in 3rd gear. One other fellow mentioned it too. I'll be talking to Mike Troyer about it Monday. Tim PS: I've done a lot of those cool burnouts, they're great.................I'm now buying my second set of rear tires...........arghhhh. $269.00 each. Still fun though....just not as often. I havn't noticed any sort of missing sound in 3rd. As I'm dirving around today I'll be listening closely for any though. I'll let you know If I hear anything.
***************** I won't be doing too many burnouts like that. But hey, I had to try it. I checked prices on those F1 when I first bought my truck. That's what has kept my foot out of it so far. $$$$SMOKE$$$$SMOKE$$$$SMOKE$$$$SMOKE$$$$SMOKE$$$$ ------------------ 2000 Red SVT Lightning Superchip Spray-in bedliner Snugtop Snuglid Tinted side windows |
Timburntire:
Let me know what Mike says. I have experienced this (the miss at constant throttle at about 40 mph in third - not allowing overdrive to kick in) since installing the R9. Smooth as glass at all other times - especially WOT. I was going to call Mike, but no point in everyone calling.
