I've been through two sets of F1's and now run 555's. My opinion is that my F1's when new had a little more dry traction than the 555's, and I have the 60' times to support this. It's not a huge difference but a difference none the less. I now even run a set of worn out 555Rs at the drag strip and my best 60' time is still from a couple of years ago with the new F1's. I'm not saying the F1's are better than the 555R's because my 555R's give me consistant numbers right there at that best time.

With that said I won't be putting the F1's back on my truck anytime soon, I think the benefits of longer tread life and better wet traction of the 555 at somewhat equal costs out weigh the trival difference between dry traction on brand new tires.

The 555R is a great tire for dry traction, I really enjoy driving my truck with these on the rear. But they don't last long at all and once they start getting low on tread they are flat out dangerous in wet road conditions. More than one person has totalled their lightning with these on the rear because of wet conditions.

I don't know how that's possible, but it is true! I've caught more nails with my F1s than with any other tires on any other vehicle. Strange, isn't it?

Ditto, the F1's are nail magnets, but are the best all around tires.
