SLOW ET'S????

Please tell me if this seems right. I have a SHM chip, SHM mass air meter, and a K&N filter. I torque it to 1200 at the line, turn my O.D. off, and put my gate down. I have run a best of 13.7 at 99.8 mph. Please tell me if my parts are crap and what parts work well on these. I heard a PowerSurge chip is good. What about 4:10's? Thanks!

What altitude is the track you ran at?

I'm not a L owner, but I have a friend I chat with In Colorado that races at 5000' and runs 15's (thats low 13's as per a calculator)

I am not sure of the altitude. It was at cordova dragstrip last week end during the Fun Ford event.

SSRBolt,

13.7 at nearly 100mph isn't poor. It's faster than most stock L's, for sure, if they were to race at the same track you were at.

I don't know what the air quality was like for you that day, but when the temp gets cooler, you could very well see 13.4-13.5. Nothing wrong with that, IMHO.

It was about 90 degrees. Maybe that had something to do with it a little. Thanks!

Down here in Dallas, TX if you're running 13.7s in 90^+ heat, then you're doing ok.

Bone stock there's no way it'd run that. Typically, what I've seen is 13.9-14.1 stock in that kind of heat.

What are your 60 ft times? You might want to try a softer launch.

W/ F1s, my best launch is from idle. From 1200 RPM I would get wheelspin.

Injection is nice, but I'd rather be blown.

When racing from a standing start on the stock F1's, I get wheelspin when going to WOT too soon. Forget about launching from anything higher than idle. You have to stomp on the throttle to get the bite off the line, but don't depress it all the way. This means a quick move to around 1/2 throttle, and then a gradual move to WOT, over the first 3/4 to 1 second. My best run included a 1.94 s 60'.

I had a 1.98 60 ft. time. I took the sway bar off. I did not have a wheel spin problem.

Understand me well, I do not want to start a mudslinging war, but;
a friend of mine has a K&N, SHM mass air, SHM chip and smaller (SHM)snout pulley. All this enabled him to run a 13.2xx @ around 102.5 mph. This was on the same day I ran my best time. To put this into perspective, that day there was a Viper with a chip and headers, and he ran a 11.8xx and got punted for not having a roll-cage.

I think SHM needs to tune their chip a little better. My only and single mod is the Superchip...
