chip with ftvb?

just kinda curious ive been reading alot about chips lately i got the one i won off of ebay but i havent installed it i want to send it the factory to see whats on it and more than likely get a reburn.

but my question is alot of chips change the way the truck shifts but i already have the ftvb, now does the ftvb change the shift points or just clean up the shifts? basically will there be any problems? all i have done is intake and exhaust and the ftvb i havent pullied it yet but now that jdm has some christmas goodies ill probably buy one of their pulleys

hopefully that makes sence ive been up for a long time and had a horrid day at work..

thanks

chris

I am sure that when you send the chip in you need to tell whoever you send it too all the mods you have done to the truck and they will set the chip to work with all your mods. I think you might call the vendor your going to use and ask them what info they need from you to program your chip correctly. Hope this helps Bart

Also, there are a lot of trucks running a valve body along with a chip with increased line pressure programmed into it. It depends on the firmness of the valve body. If you feel like you could use a little more snap, then ask the tuner to put in more line pressure. If you are happy with the way the truck shifts now, then leave it out. My flip chip has the increased line press on one of the 2 programs. Thats how I like it.

An FTVB doesn't change the shift points, just the duration of the shifts.

Like Tim said. The VB just changes the speed and firmness of the shifts. Not the rpms it shifts at.

thanks for the replies guys, i played hell with that chip today i went to about 3 diffrent shops that are on the diablo website advertising that they can reflash chips but after about 5 hrs or chasing my tail i called diablo and asked who can flash this thing well it turns out that the closest place to MI is IN a place called full throttle performance, that the red delta chip is basically old news and the black chip took its place, so the guy i talked to said he can reflash the chip as long as it has 120 ticks already burned onto it (i didnt understand that) for 50$ and if it needed the ticks burnt its going to cost 125-150$ to me that dosnt make sence.

but now im second guessing if i like this chip or not i wanted to be able to take my truck and get it dyno tuned and have the programming done that way but now it looks like ill get a genaric tune. oh well i guess its better than nothing
