I believe the theory. Drag strips would take a dim view of spraying water on the track. Intercooler fluid temp is something that needs much further research on our trucks. With the new gauge pods being built for our trucks, I plan to put a water temp gauge in the intercooler system to start getting some info on how much the temp varies when the boost is being used, like at the strip. Everyone knows that the trucks run better when these systems are cool. First we need to determine variance of temperature and then we can try ways to lower the temperature.
