fuel siphoning

howdy,

i'm a newbie in this site. ayway, does anyone know if fuel can be siphoned out of a '04 lightning's fuel tank? my girl almost filled up my truck with regular.

i was wondering if i used a small-diameter clear hose, i could remove the fuel. however, i'm not sure if i could damage any internal parts such as, fuel indicator, etc.

thanx in advance for any info you guys can provide. Lightnings rule!

Welcome to the board.

You can siphon the fuel out with no problems. I accidentally filled my truck up with regular a few months ago. I just drove it back down to empty and stayed out of the boost until I could fill it up with 93 octane.

rio j,

thanx a lot for your help. i was actually trying to avoid burning this regular fuel, though. my truck has only 900 miles on it and i wanted to remove the fuel out of the tank. but, from what i just read somewhere it seems these newer ford trucks have some sort of screens or something inside the filler tube to prevent fuel from being stolen, i guess. well, i'll have to do what you just suggested.... thanx, again.

Or add Torco or a similar fuel octane booster.

I wasn't aware of a screen in the fuel neck. I hope there is, it's a good theft deterrent. Since your truck just has 900 miles on it I would stay out of the boost during break in anyway. The regular fuel won't make any difference as long as you take it easy. It was hard for me to stay out of the boost those 2 weeks.

If it bothers you that much you can take out the schrader valve and put a hose on the fuel rail. The fuel pumps will pump the fuel out. Just don't let the pumps run with no fuel in the tank for too long. The fuel cools the pumps.

or just unhook the outlet side of the fuel filter. attatcha rubber fuel line to that, and put the other end in a gas can(s) and jumper the fuel pump relay. it'll drain right out.

or, if you have another vehicle that can run on regular, just route the hose into its fuel filler.
