*note* if doing this mod, be sure to wedge a piece of 2x4 above the leafsprings!! they will pop up and dent your bed!
i'm glad i read that someone had a dent in their bed from shackles... it gave me this idea.

Nice pics, How long did it take you to install the 2" drop shackles? Also I noticed that you have used Redline Watter Wetter in your new L. Did you notice any performance increase with it? Does your truck run cooler now? HANKFAN

Are you talking about wedging a 2x4 while installing the shackles or while operating the truck? I installed the 2" shackles and didn't have any problems with the springs. Took me about 1.5 hrs to do.

i had a friend help me (we've had a lot of experience lowering vehicles).
i took my time (didnt want to hurt my baby)
and he took a lot of smoke breaks. https://www.f150online.com/f150board/smile.gif
total time 1.5 hours. including cleanup.

i may have been imagining.. but it does seem to be a bit cooler running with the water wetter... i need to get another bottle. have to drive to baton rouge again! https://www.f150online.com/f150board/biggrin.gif yay!

If you put the whole truck up on stands, and jack up the pumpkin, you will not have any problems changin shackles. Take like 15 mins extra, but the safty margin for you and your truck is worth it...

Here's the procedure I followed when for the install.
1.Raise the truck so that the rear wheels are off the ground.
2. Place jack stands under the frame.
3. Lower the jack until all the tension is off the spring shackles. The bolt should slide out freely once the tension is off.
4. Unbolt the shackles and replace with the drop shackles.

'00BlackLightning is right on the mark for the install. I put the jack stands under the receiver hitch, worked out good for me and this is not a tough job for anyone to do.

$38 a pair including S/H...disregard the $37.44 price on the website. They have 1.5 & 2" holes.

I used Bell Tech shackles that had a choice of 1.5 and 2" drop. Paid $20 off a guy that had them on a Chevy truck and was adding air coils. By the way, they are the same part for both, only you pay more if you buy it for a Ford.
