4V's for everybody!
How many of you have given thought to the fact that the new Shelby GT500 is going to have a 5.4, 4V, with an Eaton (Whipple?) supercharger?
What this means is that there will be an intake manifold available over the counter at your local Ford dealer rather than going through what I did to grab those extra 80-100 ponies. One possible issue would be that if requires the use of the heads too, in order for it to bolt up. I am sure somebody will answer that one pretty soon. At least there are only eight injectors rather than the GT-40's 16 which is the stumbling block with that manifold. |
Good point!

maybe someone at ford reads these forums, saw your build MAD
stole your idea? You did all the work, they get all the credit:beers: |
definitely would be interested in going that route.
the question is how much ford is going to charge for that intake! ... and then if you have to buy the heads too... |
Ford already had intake manifolds before I did mine. The GT-40 mule had Navigator heads with an Eaton. They made four of the manifolds, I know where the other three are. I even spoke with a guy I used to deal with at Roush who could touch them daily but I couldn't get one.

Well the GT500 intake will not fit, think of the location of the alternator on the Lightning. Also it'll only work with GT500 & Ford GT 32v Heads, Our Eaton/Kenne Bells & Whipples don't fit them either.

no way to get a big enough crank pulley for the lightnings on the bottom of this engine...we have 2 full GT500 crate engines here right now... JimIII |

JimIII Hey JimIII, can you post a picture of the intake you guys are using for the 4V conversions you're doing/have done? And a price too... |

I noticed that Ford has all the accesories in front of the Belt for the Supercharger. And the supercharger snout is shorter as well. I see Ford got smarter to limit the size of the crank pulley. :(

All I can say is "where there is a will there is a way".
I would have to think that modifying that GT500 manifold would be a whole bunch easier than what I went through. At least it's the right width and depth. Looks like it would flow better than mine too. The drive is similar to the Whipple for the three valve which is on the same belt as the accessories. RAFA is going to have to use a longer snout (from Whipple) in order to have an independent drive belt. |

You'll just have to fork over some more $$$ to get it done. |
Would it not be far eaiser to drive your truck into JDM's shop and have them
install one of those awesome multi-valve Ali motors and Whipple. Get it dyno tuned there - then go out and kick some butt big time. Then you can have picture gallery full of photo's of yer truck with a foot of daylight under the front wheels:thumbsup: |
