is any one using 97'fuel rail/reg on their L

how many people are using 97'fuel rail regulator on their lightning and is that mod worth it? i believe it does away w/the high/low relay on the L and stays in high position all the time ?

HI!... The only reason anyone with the "99" to "03" removes their stock fuel rails and installs a "97" - "98" 5.4/4.6 fuel rail is due to the BOLT ON non adjustable FPR on the "97" - "98" version. You can unbolt the non adjustable FPR and bolt on a after market adjustable FPR. The "99" - "03" fuel rail has a welded on non adjustable FPR that you can't do anything with.

Awsome info Neal!!!

Neal, are the piping diameters the same?
And what about the openings where the injectors plug in? (the opening where the gas would flow through)
Also, what part number for the fuel regulator did you use?

Rich

I just put a 97 fuel rail in with an adjustable billet regulator...Now I just found out that you can change the stock regulator..I know its welded in but the inside has a clip and pops out..Summit sells them..Read the below post..Alot easier than changing the whole fuel rail...

You don't even need to do the 97 rail anymore, you can use an LS-1 adjustable FPR in our stock rails, it's the same part. Do a search for it, I think Jody (Camco jb) posted a part number.

actually it is an adjustable one for a gm 3.8L v6. the ls1 has a base fp that is too high, and cannot be adjusted down. sfp has them, and at the best price around. it can be changed out easily in a couple minutes with a pair of needle nose pliers.

if i remember right JDM said that the factory 97 fuel rail/reg works off of the high fuel relay only and that lightnings have a high and a low fuel relay and he turns the low off uses high at all times for a much better fuel curve
