00 just like the 99's--->>>>

As far as the slot in the frame where the driverside rear lower controlarm bolt goes through. I was at the dealership today and checked out a black 00 Lightning and saw that the bolt head on the DS lower controlarm had been moving. Mine was the same way until Ford fixed it via the welding the washer method. Just thought I would pass on some observations. Jeff

Yeah, I have the front end clunk in my 00. It only has 700 miles, but no big deal. I just need to figure out the best method for fixing it. My driver seat is getting the wear spot, too. Need to get that redone, but have no idea where to start.

Looks like it's off to the search button!

Hey, did you tell the Ford Tech exactly what to do? If not what did you tell him, so when I bring it up the next time I bring in my Lightningn for its prepaid 10k mile check-up, I can tell them whats up.

I told him exactly what the problem was with the slotted frame. I also told him that other Lightning owners were getting their tucks fixed by either star lock washers or by welding a flat washer on the frame to stop movement. He said he would weld the washers if needed. When I picked the truck up I talked to him again and he said he could not believe that Ford engineered it that way and that it was not right. He welded and then painted the washers then realigned the truck. Everything is fine now. When I was at the dealership the other day and saw that 00 black Lightning I thought I would look under the truck and see if Ford fixed the problem....nope the bolt head on the lower rear controlarm had been sliding back and forth enough to rub the paint off so that you could see it was moving...

Thanks for the info, I am gonna print it out and take it to the dealer when my 10,000 mile checkup is due. (500 miles)

When I picked up my 2000 L, the bolt had moved almost 1/4 inch on the frame with only 14.1 miles on the truck. Although my truck does not exhibit any "clunks" while turning, I am going to advise my local SVT dealer and will report what he says.

COBRAKATZ Apr 25, 2000 04:49 PM

Just left the dealer and they never heard of the problem with the front"clunk", but they did say there is a problem with the lower bolt. Problem I waited to long and the tires are worn bodly and they are not responsible for the tire wear. I called SVT and they will be coming out with a TSB for the repair of the "clunk" No help from Ford Customer Service. Any help about how I should handle the tire problem? Other problems include the driver's seat and moisture in the tailights.
