BFG DR's
I ran the DR's on Sat. after putting about 40 miles on them on the street. The best 60' time I got was a 2.02. I'm not real happy with them right now but I hope they do get better. I started with about 20 psi in them and worked it down to 16 psi with 4 runs.
Any advice???? |
I know i will probally catch some hell for this but,My personal opinion which i did not mention on earlier drag slicks post was that the drag radials are a waste of money.I have seen 250hp firebirds at my local track that cant hook up with them. Some people have good luck with them but more bad than good..02

And here I based my purchase of these on what your opinion was!!!...............(Just kidding) https://www.f150online.com/f150board/smile.gif
Hopefully I'll get more time to play with them on my next visit. |
Drag Radials work if you get the weight to transfer. My 1969 Olds 442 will hook up great even leaving at 4500 RPM on BFG DR's. But it also has drag shocks 60/40 front and 90/10 rear. The Lightning doesn't lend itself to much weight transfer, so slicks don't really get to do their job very well. Time for someone to find some shocks that will work since there arn't any out there for us yet.

PFA,
I agree with Andre, the weight transfer is really s h i t t y in these SVT`s. My best 60` was a 1.94 with the DR`s.By switching over to DRAG ET`s. I have improved to a 1.88.Be sure to do a good burnout. I have never used water with them. I would also be sure to leave the spare tire where it is for the added weight. I would not say that they are a waste of money Lquick, it`s all how you use them. Suspension needs work. Spiro [This message has been edited by Spiro99SVT (edited 04-04-2000).] |
See "Drag Shock" post may have us an answer soon. https://www.f150online.com/f150board/smile.gif

The BFG DRs worked great for me, almost no tire spin even with power braking, cut 4/10s of a second off my ET. Maybe they need to be used in combination with traction bars or something to help transfer weight? Definitely looking forward to drag shocks, only concern is how they will affect regular handling on the road.
