Cost of your 2000 Lightning?
Dealer invoice is $27k and change, so I don't know how many people will be successful on getting that, I know ford has a 3% holdover based off of MSRP, but this is not a Taurus here...I'm sure there will be someone somewhere who gets it though.
I imagine, it also depends alot on where you live. I guess in Cincinatti Ohio, not alot of demand for the Lightning there... Like I said, with my buy, 4 of the 7 SVT dealers in within 40mi (had a type, should have been 6/7 not 7/8 in my original post) of my house are now sold out for the year.

I got mine from Mike Bass Ford in Lorain, OH. My salesman said they had others that were available for order. He would sell them for $29,500, but they aren't available yet. He said they could be delivered direct to other states for about $200. Call him if you're interested and save a few thousand. His name is
Elmer Scott - 1-888-227-7033 Ext 2250

Dealer invoice is $27,384. Got a copy with my paper work from the broker I ordered mine from. Dealers around here would not deal either. Took my business where I could get a deal and had it dropped shipped to the local dealer who wanted MSRP.
I can give anyone the name of this broker if you Email me. "masterloggie@bigfoot.com"

I'd be interested, but you didn't leave your email address.
I need to have my truck by the end of the month, otherwise it will cost me in rental time. (I am currently carless) If they can't pull that off either, I can't do it...May delivery dates are out of the question.

MIDMAGIC,bend me over PEYTON KRAMER! I wanted the truck and they had the allocation. I drove off without knowing that I made my good friend from Miami some more money. Is anyone having any real problems with the dreaded piston slap. The only potential problem so far with my truck is rear tire longevity. A burn out a day !

The Blue book quote on my '99 L is several thousand dollars over what I paid for it. I paid a little over MSRP and am very happy. Some paid less, some paid more but all seem relatively satisfied. Although the fact is that all Ford/Mercury dealers are supposed to be able to work on your truck, many will not do it. They claim that they're not trained, don't have the correct PCU readers, etc. The most important element in your purchase is your dealer! Read some of the threads on this board and see how some dealers treat problems. If you plan to do any engine mods at all, including just replacing your air cleaner, then the dealer becomes incredibly important.
Please guys, don't send me replies quoting that dealers have to work on your truck - we all know life can be a living hell if the dealer gives you a hard time.
In sum, find a great dealer, pay over MSRP if you must but you will never regret it.
