Question Build dates on 2000 engine tag

Just wondering what dates the early 2000's engine build dates are. I have a replacement engine with the same 11/17/99 build date as the crate engine guy's got. How much later are the 2000's?

blue blood,

On my '00L, the engine says 11/17/99. I looked today since I heard what could very well be the dreaded piston-slap.

I have about 2500 miles on mine now and it seems just fine. It is more powerful than the original. I was curious if the 11/17 run ( or there abouts) was for service only. I can see from your response it wasn't. Thanks! How about anyone else?

Question

Where exactly is this tag? If it is a sticker on the engine, drivers side, mine says 2/07/00...

I wonder why my engine isn't newer? I probably shouldn't be concerned, though, right?

Thumbs up

I would not get hung up on small noises in your engine at all. My original made a lot of noise. It rattled like crazy if you let off before shifts. This one makes some noise also ...but not near the same intensity. Any engine I have owned with forged pistons has seemed to be a little more noisey than cast. If it lets go you will know it. I'm ahead of you by a bit of miles and I feel very confident in mine. Enjoy the toy!
