Springs - Reading the forum doen't help!!

Hi all,

I have done some reseach and read previous posts on front springs and am no better off!!

Opinion seems to be:

EIbach - Rubbish - They sag and drop over time. Also coils touch each other
Belltech - Average - truck will start bump steering. No benefit to handling
Roush - Quite Good - But discontinued.
Hotchkis - Not enough opinions on these!!

So I don't know what to buy as I am stuck!!

I want to drop the truck to take 22's. However handling is of great importance. I want to harden this supercharged jelly!! It feels like it has pots of syrup for suspension.

Help!

eibachs are progressive rate springs, they are going to touch on a few coils. Thats what progressive rate springs do and are already made with a few coils touching. Many that complain about them dont now much about suspensions.

The eibach is a good kit if your looking for a decent ride just around town.

Id go with these springs/kits. FRP/ground force, roush, hotchkis. But i believe the roush isnt made anymore. You cant go wrong with the hotchkis The FRP kit is the Ford Racing Parts kit. It comes with some nice ground force coils and shackels for the rear. I have install pics of the FRP kit on a friends L i did.

But i dont believe in paying high dollar for some springs. I spent $80 bucks on some front springs and it rides and handles better than others in my book. But everyones tastes are different.

Go with the Hotchkis. Of that list the Hotchkis and the Roush are the closest comparables ones. I believe the Roush are tad stiffer then the Hotchkis, and more of a drop.

If handling is of *great importance* then the Hotchkis and Roush are the best on that list.

You can also contact RUSLOW for front springs also.

eibach is the best bang for your buck in the suspension market. ive been usin them since 2003 when i bought my truck. i have had not one problem with them at all. i drag race the truck and get great weight transfer, i drive hard on the highway and around turn taking turns at high speeds. if you dont want to go for thousands on suspension then eibach is the way to go. im still using stock sway bars and bilstiens as well all are working just fine..
good luck..

I pitched my FRPP/Groundforce setup as well. JUNK!!!!!!!!!!
I have Belltech 4804 coils and shackles in the back... I love the ride and the handling. 4,000 miles on them and the ride is great, the look is good, and the truck sits even side to side.

I count 428 posts with both the words "Hotchkis" and "springs." That's enough opinions for two lifetimes.

As is evidenced by the complete chaos and lack of consensus in this post, more opinions will not get you better opinions.

Just figure out whose opinions you respect and go from there.

My opinion: contact Stan Martin and tell him what you want. He can get anything made.

First off you need to decide what YOU want!after all it is your truck.and unless the people you are asking have the same opinions as you.what they are using is worht what a check is written on.You need to be more specific than better handling. What does better handling mean to YOU.if you lower the truck it WILL handle better[lower center of gravity] so in my OPINION it is worthless. Ride is what the majority of you are looking for and handling is second.Be honest with yourself and you will get what you wanted not what others wanted!Stan
Forgot to add that if you are looking for 22 to clear forget it.unless it is a narrow tire. With anything more than a 2 inch drop and even then it will more than likely hit the inner fender on some bumps!

The wheels are 22's. with 295/30 tyres on. That gives an increse in 1% of rolling circumpherence. Diameter is increased by 13mm (Which I would hope is irrelevant). Oviously tyre width remains the same.

I want 2 things.

a) Truck stops nose diving when i touch the brake. And does not wallow so much at the front. It is far too soft for me.
b) Truck should look 'high up' when new wheels installed.

Obviously, I do not want to be hitting my bump stops every 5 minutes. In the UK we have twisty roads everywhere. My truck spends its life on twisty roads. I want a tighter ride. Less wallowiness. Less transfer of weight between the corners. If I have a choice of 2 springs and one can do the above the a better quality ride, then thats the one I want!

Got a product for me?

Thanks
